Introduction:

Chulu West Peak Climbing leads you to enjoy this fascinating adventure on the least climbed Chulu West which is a group of Chulu’s (East, Far East, and West)peaks located above beautiful and scenic Manang valley. Chulu West Peak stands at 6,485 m high with spectacular views of Annapurna II, III and IV, Gangapurna, Glacier Dome, Dhaulagiri, Tilicho Peak, and Manaslu.

Our adventurous; Chulu West peak trek is classified as AD grade taken from popular French / Swiss Alpine Climbing System which means ‘Accessible Difficult’, which is of high technical effort climb to its summit top, where the walk and climb leads on moraine-ice and glaciers where great patients and positive attitude including good physical fitness required for Chulu West peak trek.

Our adventure to Chulu West Peak trek begins from Kathmandu a former kingdom of Nepal and then heading towards mid hills of Lamjung and Manang districts, as the walk continues past lovely villages of Jagat-Dharapani-Chame-Pisang and at Manang, where you can observe rich Buddhist culture and its ancient traditional custom similar to Tibetans.

The walk leads into the beautiful cool alpine forest of pines and rhododendron and soon disappears as our route leads into the open wide valley of Manang with incredible views of Annapurna regions with Damodar Himal including Pisang and whole of Chulu peaks.

The adventure continues towards the west and then leaving the main trail of Annapurna circuit for few days for the classic and technical climb of Chulu West Peak, we will be camping for few nights with excellent camping services to make the Chulu West Peak climb a great success.

After achieving our highlight and goal of the adventure reaching to climb the Chulu West Peak . Our journey leads back on the main popular route to Jomsom at Mustang after crossing a high Thorang –la pass and walking past holy areas of Muktinath.

From Jomsom, a sweeping short scenic flight takes you to the popular and picturesque touristic destination at Pokhara where our Chulu West Peak Clim adventure concludes with wonderful memories of a lifetime experience.

Brief Itinerary:

Day 01:  Reach Kathmandu via respective airlines and transfer to your hotels.
Day 02:  In Kathmandu preparation for Chulu West Peak Climb and trekking with the optional tour.
Day 03:  Drive to Syange 1,140m via Bhesisar (by bus) – 06 hrs.
Day 04:  Trek to Dharapani 1,943m – 06 hrs.
Day 05:  Trek to Chame 2,720m – 05 hrs.
Day 06:  Trek to Pisang 3,190m – 05 hrs.
Day 07:  Trek to Manang 3,540 m – 04 hrs.
Day 08:  Acclimatization day at Manang with short hikes.
Day 09:  Trek to Ledar 4,280 m past Yak Kharka 4,210m – 04 hrs.
Day 10: Trek to Chulu West Base Camp 4,700 m – 04 hrs.
Day 11:  Trek and climb to High Camp at 5,100m -03 hrs.
Day 12-13: Climbing days with spare and contingency day.
Day 14:  Trek to Thorung- La High Camp – 04 hrs.
Day 15:  Cross Thorang La 5,416 m trek to Muktinath 3,800m-06 hrs.
Day 16:  Trek to Jomsom 2,725m – 04 hrs.
Day 17:  Fly from Jomsom to Pokhara 9,00m and transfer to your hotel.
Day 18:  Drive back to Kathmandu by tourist bus transfer to hotel evening farewell dinner.
Day 19:  In Kathmandu free day for individual activities and optional guided tour.
Day 20:  Final International Departure for homeward bound.

Details Itinerary

Day 01: Reach at Kathmandu via airlines and transfer to respective hotels.
On reaching at Kathmandu international airport where you will be greeted with warm welcome by High Five Adventures staff and guides, and then transfer to your hotel where you will be joined with other members of Chulu West Peak climb, here our guide and group leader will information and brief with wide information regarding the trek and climb of Chulu West Peak.

Day 02: In Kathmandu optional tour and preparation for Chulu West Peak Climb.

With free days in Kathmandu for necessary preparations where you will be busy packing and purchasing necessary required equipments for the trek and climb, on last final day in Kathmandu with final briefing regarding the climb including do’s and don’ts, where our expert climbing guide will provide much information and items required for the climb.

For interested people can join in city tour around Kathmandu at places of interest, as Kathmandu valley full of world heritage sites of impressive historical and cultural monuments.

Day 03: Drive to Syange (1,140m | 3,740ft) via Bhesisar (by bus) - 06 hrs.
Starting Chulu West Peak adventure with an interesting overland drive towards Nepal mid west, leading to Bhesisar town (headquarter of Lamjung district). From here transfer to another vehicle and continue drive on dirt road passing villages of Khudi, Bulbule and Ngadi following the Marysangdi River upstream.

Drive continues through rice terraces fields and villages to Syange a small village for overnight stop in the comfort of nice lodge.

Day 04: Trek to Dharapani (1,943m | 6,374ft) - 06 hrs.
From Syange our walk begins with climb leaving Marysangdi River behind reaching at Jagat village, a farm village with many lodges for trekkers.

After Jagat walk leads on winding path to Chamje, and back at Marysangdi River crossing to east side into forested area, with super views of Annapurna and Manaslu mountain ranges.

As the walk continues reaching a nice village at Tal Besi, from here another 3 hours walk leads to our overnight stop at Dharapani village.

Dharapani a nice village located on a junction of Annapurna circuit and Manaslu trekking trail.

Day 05: Trek to Chame (2,720m | 8,923ft) - 05 hrs.

After Dharapani walk leads into rhododendron and pine forest passing villages of Bagachap and Danque, then at Timang village with more Buddhist cultured village including views of
Mt. Manaslu 8,163m / 26,781ft. From Timang village few hours trek leads to Koto and then to Chame town for overnight stop, Chame a large major town of Manang area and a head quarter town of the district.

Day 06: Trek to Pisang (3,190m | 10,465ft) - 05 hrs.
From Pisang onwards walk leads close to mountains through alpine forests of rhododendron and pine trees, following Marshyangdi River upstream with short ups and down hills to Bhratang village. From Bhratang village walk follows uphill through alpine woodland to Dhukure Pokhari a small place with few teahouses and lodge overlooking Chulu’s and Pisang peak, with possible lunch stop, and then descends to lower Pisang village for overnight stop.

Day 07: Trek to Manang (3,540m | 11,614ft) - 04 hrs.

Morning views of mountains, from here onward altitude gains as the walk leads through forest with short uphill and views of Annapurna II and III, Gangapurna Chulu’s and Pisang peak.
Walk downhill to reach flat valley at Hongde village, from here onward tree lines fades for barren, arid landscapes with cold, dry arctic climate.

Before Manang, visit old Braga monastery with old Buddhist relics, ancient wall painting and frescos and stunning views of Annapurna Himalaya, from here an hour walk reaches at Manang village.

Day 08: Acclimatization day at Manang with short hikes

A necessary rest day at Manang for acclimatization before the climb of Thorang Peak and to Thorang-la pass, in Manang short hike around Manang village, this is a large village situated on windswept valley by the bank of Marshyangdi River below Annapurna and Gangapurna mountain range, a nice walk uphill for views of Gangapurna Glacier and Manang glacial Lake. 

Day 09: Trek to Ledar 4,280m past Yak Kharka 4,210 m - 04 hrs.

After a pleasant time with rest at Manang, walk towards Ghunsang village with short uphill to reach at Yak Kharka, an interesting walk with views of snowcapped mountains, on crossing a small stream reaching Yak Kharka for overnight stop, a small settlement with views of Gangapurna, Annapurna III and Chulu Peaks.

From here walk for 45 minutes to reach at Ledar, a small settlement with nice fine lodges, afternoon relax and enjoy views of Tilicho-Gangapurna and of Chulu West, after lunch a short hike around can be done chances of viewing wildlife such as mountain goats and antelopes or snow leopard.

Day 10: Trek to Chulu West Base Camp 4,700 m - 04 hrs.

From Ledar leaving the main Annapurna trail to Thorang-la, our route leads towards complete

Wilderness to reach a small glacial stream past Yak herder's shades and at Yak pasture fields which leads up to a ridge into a hidden valley where our base camp is located at 4,700 m high. 

Day 11: Trek and climb to High Camp 5,100 m - 03 hrs.

After Base Camp with enjoyable rest and overnight with first camping of the adventure, morning walk leads uphill to a steep scree slopes at a col or a ridge and then reaching at north of the col ascending the snow slopes for 200 meters to the base of a band or rock at an altitude of 5,100m and where possible High Camp will be pitched for this great climb to the summit of Chulu West.

Day 12-13: Climbing days using maximum of two days with a day spare as contingency.

We have reserved a day extra in case of technical difficulties and bad weather as well for contingency, the climb leads to a rock band with some difficulty to the north-west shoulder of Chulu West at 5,450m, where another camp can be pitched on a snow plateau above 5,530m. From the plateau continue the climb up the narrow ridge to the summit. A grand panoramic views awaits you scenery of all the snow capped mountains and of all Chulu's and Pisang peak.

Descend safely back to base camp using the same route.

Day 14: Trek to Thorung high camp 4,650m - 04 hrs

Walking on this gentle path which leads to a descend by the stream and again a steep climb at Thorang phedi meaning bottom of the Thorang-la from here an hour climb to the Thorang High Camp where there are few lodges.

Day 15: Trek to Muktinath 3,800 m via Thorang -la at 5,416 m - 06 hrs.
From Thorang high camp, walk leads to our adventurous journey heading higher with fantastic mountain views of Chulus’ peaks, Gangapurna-as far to Damodar Himal.

After few hours of strenuous climb reaching the top of Thorang-la pass festooned with thousands of Buddhist prayer flags and sign board of Thorang-La and its heights.

Probably this is world highest trekking pass with amazing panorama of surrounding mountain scenery, after a short break our adventure continues with downhill to reach at another phedi (bottom) with few tea-shops, after a short rest continue walk on gradual level path to reach holy Muktinath around Lower Mustang area.

On reaching Muktinath a holy spot for both Hindus and Buddhists the word Muktinath literally means ‘the place for Nirvana or Liberation’. Located on serene environment where one take a drive to Jomsom and beyond to Beni / Pokhara. Overnight at Muktinath just little further for temple area where fine lodges and Inns are located.

Day 16: Trek to Jomsom 2,725m - 04 hrs.
From Muktinath, walk is easier on gradual downhill to Kaligandaki river valley, past Jharkot an interesting village of strong Tibetan influence, and then reaching on a flat river bed of Kaligandaki valley on the way to Jomsom town, headquarter town of Mustang district with a small airstrip above Kaligandaki River.

At Jomsom overnight stop in a nice lodge, where you can celebrate the last night dinner among crews and other members. Jomsom and surrounding areas of Kagbeni-Marpha to Tukuche famous for apples and its products like juice, cider and brandy.

Day 17: Fly from Jomsom to Pokhara 9,00m transfer to your hotel.
Early breakfast then transfer to Jomsom airport for scenic short flight of 25 minutes to Pokhara, during airborne awesome views of Dhaulagiri, Nilgiris and Annapurna range of mountains with rolling hills and villages,

On reaching Pokhara airport transfer to respective hotels by the lake Phewa, afternoon free for individual activities or just relax and enjoy the views of the Annapurna Himalaya.

Day 18: Drive or fly back to Kathmandu.
Morning a scenic drive to Kathmandu, after a wonderful memorable adventure on Chulu West Peak, on reaching Kathmandu transfer to respective hotels with afternoon free at leisure, option by air 30 minutes scenic flight to Kathmandu.

Day 19: In Kathmandu for individual activities.
A free day in Kathmandu to relax and as well for individual activities and shopping or join in our guided tour where you can witness ancient culture and heritage sites around Kathmandu valley.

Day 20: International departure for homeward bound.
Chulu West Peak Climb and Trek complete today in Kathmandu, as per the time for your international flight homeward bound or to next respective countries and port of call, transfer to airport with mesmerizing and exciting adventure with High Five Adventures and its cheerful friendly guides and staff.
