Dhaulagiri Round Trek the route of the journey is slowly getting popular among adventurer and trekkers, as this walk leads you to remote and isolated villages and away from human settlement for a week, the delights and thrill of the adventure is being in complete wilderness for many days in the harmony of natural surrounding amidst high snow-capped peaks of Dhaulagiri massive.

Dhaulagiri stands at 8,167 m as world’s 7th highest the view of the mountain can be seen from Pokhara valley and around Kaligandaki valley also, the scenery is exceptional on daily walk Around Dhaulagiri Trekking.

Starting with an exciting overland drive from Kathmandu to reach at Darbang via Beni and Pokhara, and then walking through isolated farm villages and well-tended farm fields to reach the mid-hills and into glaciers and moraine at Dhaulagiri base camp, beneath towering and massive Mt. Dhaulagiri and its tumbling ice falls.

After overnight at Dhaulagiri heading to Hidden valley via high French Pass with sweeping views of Dhaulagiri-Tuckuche-Manapathi and range of satellite peaks of Dhaulagiri range, with enjoyable time with tough walks heading downhill to Kaligandaki valley at Marpha a charming village of Thakali people famous for apples and its products, from here the route is known as Apple Pie trail also.

Walking on gentle trail reaching warmer areas back into rice fields at Tatopani with a hot-spring where our walk ends for the drive to Beni and Pokhara where this fantastic adventure Around Dhaulagiri concludes.

Brief Itinerary:

Day 01: Reach Kathmandu via respective airlines and transfer to your hotels.
Day 02: In Kathmandu preparation for Churen Himal with the optional tour.
Day 03: Drive or fly to Pokhara 950m (35 mins flight & 6 hrs drive)
Day 04: Drive to Darbang 1,200 m via Beni 900 m -06 hrs.
Day 05: Trek to Riverside 1,700 m – 04 hrs.
Day 06: Trek to Bagar 2,375m -05 hrs.
Day 07: Trek to Dovan 2,600m-06 hours.
Day 08: Trek to Chartare / Bhainsi Kharka 3,000m -05 hrs.
Day 09: Trek to Pakhaban  (Japanese Camp.) 3,750m -05 hrs.
Day 10: Trek to Dhaulagiri Base Camp 4,750m – 06 hrs.
Day 11: Trek to Hidden Valley 4,900m via French Pass 5,360m.
Day 12: At Hidden Valley (contingency or spare day).
Day 13: Trek to Yak Kharka 4,915m – 05 hrs.
Day 14: Trek to Marpha 2, 670 – 04 hours.
Day 15: Trek to Lete 2,480m – 06 hrs.

Details Itinerary

Day 01: Reach at Kathmandu via airlines and transfer to respective hotels.
On reaching at Kathmandu international airport where you will be greeted with warm welcome by High Five Adventure staff and guides, and then transfer to your hotel where you will be joined with other members of Around Dhaulagiri trekking, here our guide will brief with wide information regarding Around Dhaulagiri trek.

Day 02: In Kathmandu optional tour and preparation for Dhaulagiri Trek.

With free day in Kathmandu for necessary preparations where you will be busy packing and purchasing necessary required equipments for the Dhaulagiri trek, on last final day in Kathmandu with final briefing regarding the climb including do’s and don’ts, where our expert climbing guide will provide much information and items required for the adventure around Dhaulagiri Trek.

For interested people can join in city tour around Kathmandu at places of interest, as Kathmandu valley full of world heritage sites of impressive historical and cultural monuments.

Day 03: Drive to Pokhara 950m - 06 hrs journey distance 220 k.m.
Morning travel by tourist coach or in private vehicle over the busy scenic highway towards amazing picturesque Pokhara valley driving through the Himalayan foothills, on arrival at Pokhara transfer to respective hotels nearby beautiful Phewa Lake with afternoon free for short walks.

Flying options 30 minutes of scenic flight to Pokhara.

Day 04: Drive to Darbang via Beni 900 m - 06 hrs.
From Pokhara, our journey continues on drive to Beni town and beyond to a farming town at Darbang after driving past Kusma and Beni town and following Mygdi River all along to reach Darbang, a busy market village and a starting point of Dhaulagiri- Churen Himal, Dhorpatan and Dolpo trekking.

Darbang a small farm village slowly turning into a town, after motor road has been completed from Beni and Pokhara, at Darbang for overnight stop by the Mygdi River in a local simple lodge.

Day 05: Trek to Riverside 1,560 m - 05 hrs.
First day of this adventure starts walking past farm villages and then on pleasant trail along Myagdi River, following the Myagdi River right to its glacier source at Dhaulagiri base camp.

After a good walk reaching our first overnight camp by the river, after noon at leisure with rest or enjoy the cool river.

Day 06: Trek to Bagar 2,375m - 06 hrs.
Morning walk follows the river reaching a farm village of Jugepani for lunch stop, afternoon climb above a ridge and then descend through forest to camp at Bagar, a farm village, Bagar the last village till our walk joins at Marpha village.

Day 07: Trek to Dovan 2,600m - 06 hours.
On leaving the last of farm fields at Bagar village walk into forest for an hour and then a climb into forested area of bamboo, oaks and rhododendron trees.

After climb then descend to reach at Dovan for overnight camp, Dovan a small temporary settlement with small teahouse and shops.

Day 08: Trek to Chartare / Bhainsi Kharka 3,000m -05 hrs.
From Dovan morning walk leads to an unstable wooden bridge over a stream at a confluence of Mygdi river, after crossing walking into forest all the way to overnight stop at Chartare also called Bhainse Kharka.

Day 09: Trek to Pakhaban (Japanese Camp) 3,750 m - 05 hrs.
After overnight in the middle of dense forest, today walk leads to complete wilderness on leaving the vegetation and tree lines for few days.

Morning walk leads closer to Mt. Dhaulagiri South Face flank, with views of Putha Huinchuli, Manapathi and Dhaulagiri south flank, after good hours of walk reaching a glaciated area on a clearing named as Italian camp.

From here adventure begins as the walk leads on glacier, moraine with climb over rocky ridge to reach Pakhaban also called Japanese camp.

This camp offers super views of South West Face of Dhaulagiri and Manapathi, Puttha Hiunchuli with huge ice wall of Tsaurabong Peak.

Day 10: Trek to Dhaulagiri Base Camp 4,750m - 06 hrs.
Morning walk follows moraine and iceberg in some section, this morning climb needs a good team work with guides, porters and fellow members to be on right side of the trail over glaciated sections.

After a tough walk over glacial section reaching a rocky open area around Dhaulagiri where base camp is located.

Overnight camp at base camp the highlight of this adventure  with closest view of world 7th highest Mt. Dhaulagiri I at 8,167 m, includes view of tumbling icefalls, glacier and Tukuche peak with West peaks of Dhaulagiri II (7,751 m.), Dhaulagiri III (7,715 m.) and Dhaulagiri IV  (7,618 m.).

Day 11: Trek to Hidden Valley 4,900m via French Pass 5,360m.
From this unique and wonderful campsite morning walk leads to the highest point of the adventure over French pass at 5,360 meters.

After the high pass a short descend to reach a wide grassy meadow a huge field at hidden valley for overnight camp.

Offering views of Sita Chuchura, Mukut Himal, and Tashi Kang 5,386 meters, Tukche Peak and Dhaulagiri I.

Day 12: At Hidden Valley (Contingency or spare days).
Today a rest and spare or contingency day in case of bad weather condition including physical conditions of members, staff and porters.

If all goes well we can carry on to next camp to more safe and nice area to make the next day shorter towards Pokhara.

On this day if are not moving just relax and enjoy the views and explore on this least trekked area around Hidden valley.

Day 13: Trek to Yak Kharka 4,915m via Thapa pass 5,250 m - 05 hrs.
After a pleasant rest, morning starts on a gentle path for few hours to reach last pass of this adventure at Thapa also called Dhampus pass with 5,250 meters high.
On reaching the pass with grand rare views of Annapurna Himal, Nilgiris peaks, and then our walk descend to Yak Kharka for overnight camp and back into green vegetation of Juniper, Burberry and rhododendron bushes.

Day 14: Trek to Marpha 2,630 m - 04 hrs.
Morning walk with long descend back into villages, after being in complete wilderness for past few days.

Downhill walk into forest of firs, pines and rhododendron trees, after few hours of easy descend reaching at one of the charming village at Marpha where all houses are painted white, this gem of a village with an interesting monastery.

Marpha located in lower Mustang district around Kaligandaki river valley, this area famous for delicious apples and product like cider, brandy local brew, juices, dry apples and apricot fruits. Enjoy the afternoon in the comfort of nice lodges and explore this beautiful village.

Day 15: Trek to Lete 2,480m - 06 hrs.
From Marpha an enjoyable walk following Kaligandaki river downstream, reaching Tukuche village, beneath Tukuche peak and Dhaulagiri with Mt. Nilgiris, from here back into tree line of pines, oaks and rhododendron, and then to a nice Kalapani village, after a short stop walk to another lovely village with grand views of Mt. Annapurna I, Nilgiris and Dhaulagiri, a short downhill brings at Lete village for overnight stop.

Day 16: Trek to Tatopani 1,190m - 06 hrs.
From Lete onwards leads to dramatic change in landscapes, walking between two high peaks of Dhaulagiri and Annapurna forming world deepest gorge.

From Ghasa village a southern end of Mustang area, dominated by Thakali people and then heading at Tatopani (Hot Spring) village with sub-tropic climate.

 Tatopani another nice village with large hot spring pools just by the bank of the River Kaligandaki.

Day 17: Drive back to Pokhara via Beni town (Around Dhaulagiri completes)
After a grand adventure Around Dhaulagiri and crossing high passes with enjoyable stop at Tatopani with hot-spring, morning drive back to scenic Pokhara via Beni, where our Dhaulagiri full circuit completes at Beni and in Pokhara with last overnight stop by the serene lake Phewa.

Day 18: Drive or fly back to Kathmandu afternoon free at leisure.
Morning a scenic drive to Kathmandu, after a wonderful memorable adventure on world 10th  highest mountains expeditions to Mt. Annapurna I,  on reaching Kathmandu transfer to respective hotels with afternoon free at leisure.
(option by air 30 minutes scenic flight to Kathmandu)

Day 19: In Kathmandu free day with optional tour.
A day in Kathmandu enjoy relaxing on this free day, you can join in our guided tour where you can witness ancient culture and heritage sites around Kathmandu valley..

Day 20: International departure homeward bound.
Around Dhaulagiri Trekking completes today in Kathmandu, as your time for international flight homeward bound, our staff transfers you to airport after an exciting adventure with High Five Adventure and its cheerful friendly guides and staff.

  • Airport Pick up drop (Airport /Hotel/Airport) by private car/van/Bus. Hotel in Kathmandu: Two night's tourist standard Hotel in Katmandu with breakfast basis. Welcome dinner and farewell dinner in Kathmandu
