Ghorepani Poon Hill Trek is a fairly easy and pleasant trek in the Annapurna region, famed for the breathtaking views of Dhaulagiri, Annapurna, Lamjung, Nilgiri, Hiunchuli and Manaslu mountain ranges among others as well as unmatched views of sunrise and sunset from Poon Hill (3210m). On the trail through the rhododendron and oak forests, you will come across many Gurung and Magar villages, and have a chance to interact with the locals and gain some insight into their unique cultures, traditions and lifestyle.
Ghorepani Poon Hill Trek Route
Once our exploration and preparations are complete in Kathmandu, we will catch a short scenic flight to Pokhara. After a short drive to Nayapul, the Poon Hill Trek begins as we walk for a few hours to Tikhedhunga. After a day of pleasant walking past the bamboo forests and streams, we will arrive at the picturesque village of Ghorepani. We will climb early the next morning to Poon Hill to enjoy the fantastic sunrise view over the snow-clad peaks of the Annapurna region. Once we’re content with the view, we will resume on the path and trek through Tadapani, Ghandruk and Nayapul to finally end the trek at Pokhara. We will spend the day exploring the bustling lakeside markets and nearby attractions before catching a flight back to the capital. With this, we take in the last views of the serene mountains and bring our journey to a closure.
Best Times To Visit: Spring (March – May) and Autumn (September – November)
The best time to attempt the Ghorepani Poon Hill trek is during spring and autumn as the skies are dust free and the mountains are crystal clear around this time. Thus, Poon Hill will also offer the most breathtaking sunrise and sunset views. It is recommended to not visit during monsoon however, as the trails can get slippery and the clouds will block most of your view.

Outline Itinerary:
Day 01: Arrival at TIA, Kathmandu
Day 02: Guided sightseeing tour in Kathmandu
Day 03: Flight from Pokhara to Kathmandu, drive from Pokhara to Nayapul and trek to Tikhedhunga (1,550m) – 1 hour drive and 5 hours trek
Day 04: Trek from Tikhedhunga to Ghorepani (2,800m) – 6 hours
Day 05: Climb to Poon Hill (3,210m) and trek to Tadapani (2,600m) – 5 hours
Day 06: Trek from Tadapani to Ghandruk (1,940m) – 4 hours
Day 07: Trek to Nayapul, drive to Pokhara – 6 hours trek and 1 hour drive
Day 08: Leisure day in Pokhara, flight to Kathmandu
Day 09: Farewell and flight back home
