Day 01: Reach at Kathmandu via airlines and transfer to respective hotels.
On reaching at Kathmandu international airport where you will be greeted with warm welcome by High Five Adventures staff and guides, and then transfer to your hotel where you will be joined with other members of Mt. Kanchenjunga Expedition, here our guide and group leader will information and brief with wide information regarding the trek and Mt. Kanchenjunga Expedition.
Day 02-03: In Kathmandu optional tour and preparation for Kanchenjunga expeditions.
With free days in Kathmandu for necessary preparations where you will be busy packing and purchasing necessary required equipments for the expeditions, on last final day in Kathmandu with final briefing regarding the climb including do’s and don’ts, where our expert climbing guide will provide much information and items required for the climb.
For interested people can join in city tour around Kathmandu at places of interest, as Kathmandu valley full of world heritage sites of impressive historical and cultural monuments.
Day 04: Morning free day in Kathmandu afternoon fly to Biratnagar.
In Kathmandu morning free and then in afternoon time transfer for scenic flight to Biratnagar, located Nepal Far South East, in warmer region close to border of Bihar-India, Biratnagar an Industrial city with time in the afternoon for short walk around the city area and preparation for next day early flight and trekking.
Day 05: Fly to Sukhetar and trek to Lali Kharka 1,900m - 04 hrs.
Morning with early sweeping short flight to land at Sukhetar in Taplejung area , in Sukhetar meet our trekking staff and porters and then start the first day walk to a small farm village at Lali Kharka.
Day 06: Trek to Kheswa - Bhanjyang 2,100m - 05 hrs.
Morning on downhill path through farm villages and well maintained farm fields with row of terraces, people of this area are mixture of Brahmins, Chettries and Kirat tribes Rai's and Limbus who also practice Hinduism along with their own old traditional culture worshiping natural spirits.
After reaching Tembawa village, then climb steeply to Kunjari a mid hill village, from here into a mix forest to reach a small farm village at Khesewa- Bhanjyang for overnight camp, with super views of Kanchenjunga and Yalungkang peaks.
Day 07: Trek to Mamangkhe 2,030 m - 06 hrs.
Journey begins descending after leaving the farm village towards Nandeva khola, after crossing this stream, walk leads downhill and with a climb into forest to reach at Lopoding village, from here with ups and down trail to Fun Fun a small settlement, from Fun-fun hill top rewards you with views of Khumbakarna Himalaya range of mountains with Yalung and Mt. Kanchenjunga.
From this high spot on the downhill path to Khesewa khola, then crossing a suspension bridge with a last climb of the day through terraced fields to reach Mamankhe village for overnight stop.
Day 08: Trek to Yangphudin 2,150m - 06 hrs.
Morning walk leads around a ridge and to a level path leading at Dekadin village. From this village walk along Kabeli khola (stream) and then climb high above the river bed towards mountain trail, walking on winding path and descend towards Kabeli khola, leaving the river our walk leads to a climb through farm fields and villages, after a good walk of the day reaching at Yamphudin for overnight camp.
Day 09: Trek to Chitre 2,880 m - 06hrs.
From Yamphudin village walk along the bank of Kabeli khola, crossing few tributary stream of Omje khola and then climb to Dhupi Bhangyang, a wide-open grassland, from the top downhill into deciduous forest to Omje Khola. Journey continues through rhododendron forest, and coming to an exposed ridge to our overnight camp at Chitre, a small settlement with few huts.
Day 10: Trek to Simbua Khola 3,000m - 07 hrs.
After Chitre, our journey leads to Ramite Bhanjyang with steep climb through magnolias, rhododendron and bamboo forest to reach at Ramite, from here climb up passing a small pond near Ramite Bhanjyang at 3,430 meters.
After a break with views of Mt. Jannu, walk leads through dense forested of rhododendron, pines and oaks trees with view of Mt. Kanchenjunga, Mt. Khumbhakarna and Kabru peaks and then downhill to riverbed at Simbua Khola for overnight camping.
Day 11: Trek to Tseram 3,770 m - 05 hrs.
Morning walk leads to a river rock shelter with caves, then walking along Simbua Khola heading along the mountain flank on the forested area of rhododendron and pine trees, then reaching at Wahta with a single hut, walk continues to a shrine with a large boulder with an imprint of a serpent shaped, after leaving forested area walk towards a riverbed again, then climb up to Tserem for overnight camp with views of Yalung glacier and Kabru 7,353 m and Talung 7,349 m peaks.
Day 12: Trek to Ramche 4,360m via Lapsang - 05 hrs.
After a wonderful morning at Tserm, downhill to Simbua Khola riverbed, from here climb up on terraced hills to Yalung Bara with a lonely stone hut, this hut marks the end of the forest as the trail leads towards Yalung Glacier ablation zone, fabulous views of Kabru, Rathong and Kokthang, the walk stops around this lovely area for overnight camp.
Day 13: Rest day at Ramche for acclimatization and optional walk.
A rest or free day after a week of nice and hard walk, morning hike and explore Kanchenjunga South Base Camp with views of Yalung Glacier and Mt. Kanchenjunga South Wall, the walk takes about two hours at an altitude of 4,600 m. The classic route of first British Expeditions to the summit of Mt. Kanchenjunga in 1955, enjoy grand views of Talung and Kabru Peak, after a nice hike back to Ramche for overnight.
Day 14: Trek back to Tseram - 04 hrs.
Retrace the journey back to Tserm with downhill most of the way and back into tree lines with superb views along the way to Tseram for overnight stop.
Day 15: Trek to Tamo la 4,300 m - 05 hrs.
Morning begins with a descend through Yalungbar with short steep up then crossing a river with gradually walk through the forest, from here it leads to a climb on the steep uphill for an hour and reaching two small glacial ponds, then from here a hard walk up and down to cross three passes of Miring La, Tamo La and Sinion La.
The first section of the journey leads to climb for an hour to the ridge top of the pass with great view of Kabru peak and Mt. Kanchenjunga. From Miring La, the trail goes gently down and then up to Sinion La at 4,500 m. From the top of the pass awesome views of Mt. Makalu, Mt. Baruntse, and Chamlang peaks looking towards North West, after the great scenery the trail descends gently to Tamo La at 4,500 m and from here again a super views of Khumbakarna Himalaya range of mountains after a great scenic walk heading downhill to the overnight camp.
Day 16: Trek to Ghunsa 3,480m - 06 hrs.
Here onwards trek leads to North Kanchenjunga Base Camp, starting with gradual walk then with a steep downhill for an hour into rhododendron and pines forest, downhill continues till it reaches a level ground near Ghunsa River, from here on nice and gradual path to Ghunsa village, habituated by large number of Bhotia ethnic tribe of Tibetan origin with stone built houses and neat small farm village, overnight camp near Ghunsa village.
Day 17: Trek to Kangbachen 4,000m - 05 hrs.
Our morning walk continues along Ghunsa River, through rhododendron and pines forest, and then slowly ascend to Rambuk Kharkas crossing a small glacier landslide sections, walk continues with amazing views of Khumbukarna Himal and Janu Himal and other high snow capped mountains, then leaving the tree lines behind towards barren landscapes with only sparse vegetation of junipers and Burberrys bushes , after Rambuk Kharka, climb through a large landslide area with a excellent views of Khumbakarna's Himal North Face.
The walk form here leads to gentle descend to Kangbachen for overnight stop dominated by Mt. Sharphu at 7,070 meters high includes North face of Mt. Janu and Wedge peak.
Day 18: Trek to Lhonak 4,780 m - 05 hrs.
After a lovely time with grand views, morning walk follows above the river for an hour and then heading towards North East, the path leads down to the river and then climbing on the boulder track leading to a terminal moraine of Kanchenjunga glaciers, after Ramtang Kharka (a Sheppard huts and shades) the path leads to Kanchenjunga glacier, then crossing at the junction of Lhonak and Kanchenjunga glacier then reaching to our overnight camp at Lhonak with stunning views of Mera, Nepal Peak and Wedge Peaks.
Day 19: Trek to Kanchenjunga base camp at Pang Pema 5, 143 m - 05 hrs.
Today's, walk leads to our final and main destination at Pang Pema, Kanchenjunga North Base, walking uphill high above the river with views of Kirat Chuli, Nepal Peak, Taple Sikhar, and Givegela Chuli. The first section of the climb is gentle and then unto trail of rocks and boulders, walks continues on some grassy slopes with glacier path towards Kanchenjunga North Base Camp, around the area chance of spotting wildlife blue sheep's, mountain antelopes, if lucky the elusive rare Snow Leopard.
Day 20: Rest day at base camp / Pang Pema for local exploration and preparation.
The final and highlight destination of this magnificent trip, today a free and rest day for optional hike or either rest at Base Camp and marvel the surrounding beautiful scenery or climb up to Pang Pema Peak 5,800 m for more panoramic mountain views, the climb to the Peak is a mixture of boulders, moraine and grassland. From the top rewarded with mind blowing views of Kanchenjunga, Khumbakarna, Makalu, Cholatse, Sharpu, Nepal Peak and range of other snow capped peaks, afternoon full preparation for onward challenging climb to the summit of world 3rd highest mountains.
Day 21: Trek and climb to Advance Camp 5,836 m -04 hrs.
Climb North glacier and moraine to setup Advance Camp just below North Col of Kanchenjunga and east of Kanbachen peak, altitude gains slowly with few rest stops and then following a faint path which climbs to an ablation valley on the eastern side of Kanchenjunga glacier.
Following the gully onto the glacier make the way over the boulder-strewn caves and ice to set Advance below towering Mt. Kanchenjunga North Face.
Day 22-41: (20 days) Expeditions and ascent to the summit.
High Five reserves twenty days for the ascent and as well for full preparations, as the weather and time allows, final day for the big climb after getting well acclimatize with some practice on rock and ice climbing.
On these 20 days includes climb to the summit and return to base camp, our expert guides and high altitude porters and Sherpa and as well members will be active ferrying loads to designated camp sites. This tough and technical climb requires maximum of 3 camps where our team of climbing Sherpa will establish camp I at 6,522 m near Kanbachen peak base and setting more camp II and III, at above 7,600 meters with members sleeping only one night at this top camp before heading to the summit top.
On reaching the summit, which is a small plateau with views of Everest-Lhotse-Baruntse Himal with adjoining peaks and as far towards Makalu at western horizon. After a successful grand climb and feeling on top of the world, head back safely to Base Camp depending.
Day 42: Return to base camp.
On this day every member and staff must return at the Base Camp after a huge success on this day all climbing members and staffs should be packing.
Day 43: Clean up of the Base Camp.
Clean up and packing of all the expeditions equipment to ferry out towards Sukhetar and beyond.
Day 44: Trek to Kangbachen 3,900 m - 06 hrs.
After the most memorable and fabulous time at Pang Pema and tough climb on top Mt. Kanchenjunga, morning walk leads to a long descend with few short climb and the retracing the journey back by the same route to camp at Kambachen.
Day 45: Trek to Phole 3,100 m - 06 hrs.
After the most memorable and fabulous time on Kanchenjunga Expeditions and North Base Camp, morning walk leads to a long descend with few short climb and the retracing the journey back by the same route to camp at Ghunsa, after crossing Ghunsa Khola the walk is pleasant through the pine forest to a very interesting Sherpa village of Phole.
Day 46: Trek to Amjilassa 2,500m - 07 hrs.
Our journey continues with a descend coming across rich vegetation and back to tree lines, through mix forest of bamboo and rhododendrons.
Before Gybala village walk is about half hour steep climb, then on the bank of Ghunsa River, walk gently climbs and with down hills for an hour and leading to a steep up and down again for two hours through the forest and finally reaching open grassland at Amjilassa, a small Sherpa village with overnight camping on a nice grassy field.
Day 47: Trek to Tapethok 1,300 m - 06 hrs.
From here onwards getting back to lower altitude back to farm land and more villages, morning walk begins with a gradual trail and then descending through open grassland to Ghaiya Bari and Sekathum villages, from Sekathum crossing Ghunsa and Simbhu Rivers then following Tamur River to reach our overnight camp at Tapethok village of Limbu (Subba) Kirat ethnic tribe people.
Day 48: Trek to Phoram 1,650m - 06 hrs.
After this Limbu village of Tapethok, journey continues on the left bank of Tamur River and to Chiruwa village, then walking for an hour through the several farm villages, walk leads to an uphill through mix forests of rhododendrons, oaks and pines trees, after leaving the forest the walk gets better on the pleasant trail then reaching to our overnight stop at Phoram village, this is fairly a large and neat village with afternoon time for walk around this pretty village of Phoram.
Day 49: Trek to Suketar 2,440 m - 05 hrs.
Today, the last day walk of this great adventure as the walk leads to Suketar, after Phoram village, walk leads to number of villages and into cool woodland, as the path leads to a steep up for couple of hours and with a gradual and pleasant walk all the way to Taplejung village at Suketar for overnight stop.
Day 50: Fly to Kathmandu and transfer to hotel.
Getting up early to catch the early flight back to Kathmandu from Sukhetar (sometime the flight time can get delayed due to bad weather), as the plane reaches Lukla airstrip depart for Kathmandu taking a sweeping scenic flight in a small twin otter or Dornier plane.
On arrival in Katmandu domestic airport a short drive leads you back in the hustle and bustle city life of Kathmandu, transfer back to your hotels in the hub of Kathmandu in and around Thamel area.
Day 51-52: In Kathmandu for individual activities.
Two days as spare and free day in case of flight delay at Lukla in due to bad weather conditions, on this day busy sorting out climbing equipments, where our leader and guide will submit the expeditions report to concern Nepal Government department.
On this free day you can join in our guided tour of interest with culture and heritage sites as Kathmandu valley is full of world heritage sites, however some of them been damaged from recent earthquakes.
Day 53: International departure for home ward bound.
Mt. Kanchenjunga Expeditions completes in Kathmandu, as per the time for your international flight homeward bound or to next respective countries and port of call, transfer to airport with mesmerizing and exciting adventure with High Five Adventures and its cheerful friendly guides and staff.
