Getting Around Langtang Valley
The Langtang Valley Trek begins from Syabrubesi, which is also the headway to most treks and expeditions around the Langtang Valley. After a bumpy drive to Syabrubesi, we trek our way through Lama Hotel and Langtang village before arriving at the ancient monastery of Kyanjin Gompa. We will hike early the next morning to Tserko Ri, which is famed for its spectacular sunrise views as well as a view of the skyline dominated by the Langtang Lirung. Once our main objective is accomplished, we steadily descend through the oak and pine forests, returning back to Langtang village. Passing through the maple and rhododendron laden paths, we come across a number of Tamang and Sherpa villages on our path. We will have an opportunity to interact with the locals and come to an understanding regarding their lifestyle and culture. Our trek comes to a closure as we finally reach Syabrubesi and catch a bus back to the capital.
The Langtang Valley trek is a moderate difficulty trek that can be performed as a tea house or camping trek. It is a good experience for both first timers and experienced climbers alike.
Best Times to Visit: Spring (March – May) and Autumn (September – December)
The best times to attempt the Langtang Valley Trek are during the months of spring and autumn. The rhododendrons and junipers are in full bloom during spring and you’ll get a crystal clear view of the various mountain ranges in autumn leading to the best possible experience.
Special Note:
The Langtang region and its tourism was affected quite badly by the devastating 2015 Nepal earthquake. The recovery process has been progressing steadily, but there is still much to be done. You will be directly contributing to their efforts through the local economy, just by visiting.
