An adventure that leads you to the top of Mera and Island Peaks of above 6,000 meters high with a traverse of two high passes of Mera-la and Amphu Labtsa, truly action-packed climbing thrills on Mera Peak Via Ampu lapcha Pass Island peak where excitement and fantastic scenery never ends on this magnificent adventure journey.

Mera Peak Via Ampu lapcha Pass Island peak, one of the most exciting adventures full of adrenaline activities, this the tough journey where you can experience your skill and strength in the backdrop of world’s highest mountains.

Our first part of the trip leads towards Mera Peak after reaching Lukla taking a short scenic flight from Kathmandu and then heading into hidden Inkhu and Hongu valley, where few trekkers and adventurer often visits this remote and isolated area.

The adventure starts walking into glacier with a long climb on top the summit of Mera peak at 6,461 m and 21, 907 ft high. Where ice-axe and crampons needed all the way to the top and back.

After our first adventure on top Mera Peak our journey continues over Mera-la pass of above 5.000 m to reach upper Hongu valley near Baruntse Himal and Amphu Labtsa peaks and the pass at Panch Pokhari beautiful glacial lakes in the midst of no-where.

From Panch Pokhara, another challenge leads us over high Amphu Labtsa-la at 5,780 m high to reach a beautiful Imjatse valley for the climb of Island peak at the height of 6,189 m.

Our entire adventure climb to Mera and Island peaks is undertaken with great safety measures with enough rest days and practices before the big climb on top of these famous trekking peaks of Nepal Himalaya.

Enjoying the climb on top of Island peak also called Imjatse peak due to its location around the valley of Imjatse, our adventurous journey leads us towards the main trekking trails of Everest at Dingboche and Thyangboche villages and its interesting monastery back into tree lines with fantastic views of Everest-Lhotse and Amadablam with other peaks.

Our return journey leads through famous Namche Bazaar the main village of Khumbu area and then ending our adventure at Lukla for short scenic flight back to Kathmandu, after a most fantastic adventure and mind-blowing experience on Mera Peak Via Ampu lapcha Pass Island peak Trek and Climb.

Details Itinerary

Day 01: Reach at Kathmandu via airlines and transfer to respective hotels.
On reaching at Kathmandu international airport where you will be greeted with warm welcome by High Five Adventures staff and guides, and then transfer to your hotel where you will be joined with other members of Mera Peak Via Ampu lapcha Pass Island peak, here our guide and group leader will information and brief with wide information regarding Mera Peak trek and climb.

Day 02: In Kathmandu optional tour and preparation for Island Peak climb.

A free day in Kathmandu for necessary preparations where you will be busy packing and purchasing necessary required equipments for the climb of Mera Peak Via Ampu lapcha Pass Island peak, on last final day in Kathmandu with final briefing regarding the climb including do’s and don’ts, where our expert climbing guide will provide much information and items required for the trek and climb.

For interested people can join in city tour around Kathmandu at places of interest, as Kathmandu valley full of world heritage sites of impressive historical and cultural monuments.

Day 03: Fly to Lukla 2,840 m & trek to Chutanga 3,020 m - 04 hrs.

Mera Peak Via Ampu lapcha Pass Island peak Trek and Climb starts with early morning flight to Lukla, at Lukla received by our camping staff and porters then walk from Lukla towards silent and peaceful trail towards Chutanga, a small Yak grazing summer pasture surrounded with lovely tree lines of rhododendron-pines-oaks and firs.

Day 04: Trek to Thuli Kharka 4,300 m - 06 hrs.
Morning a steep climb over Kalo Himal or Nau Lekh a high rocky jagged ridge, which separates Khumbu and hidden Inkhu valley leading towards east at Makalu area.

After a hard climb reach on top of Zatrwa Og pass festooned with Buddhist prayer flags at 4,450 meters hihg, and then walk leads to cross over Zatrwa-La at 4,531 meters high, offering views of Dudh Kosi river valley with Karyolung and Lumding Himal, after a grand view downhill to overnight camp at Thuli Kharka on a summer pasture field.

Day 05: Trek to Mousum Kharka 3,691 m - 04 hrs.
Morning starts with downhill walk with views of Peak 43 and Kusum Kanguru peaks, and then reaching at Inkhu valley area, with stunning views of Mera Peak South Face as our walk continues into forest of rhododendron and pine trees to reach at Mosum Kharka for overnight camp.

Day 06: Trek to Tangnag (Thangnak) 4,356 m - 05 hrs.
Journey continues heading towards north on leaving the forested area, after a pleasant walk reaching a wide open valley in a grazing land at Gondishung 4,180 meters which is very near to our overnight camp at Tangnag area.

Gondishung with an interesting old small Gompa believed to be of more than 200 years old, from here an hour walk to Tangnag for overnight stop, a nice spot with temporary huts and shades and small lodge or tea house.

Day 07: Rest day at Tangnag for acclimatization.
A great place for rest day and to get acclimatize before heading towards high area at Mera Peak base camp and Mera-La, on this day relax with short hike on top of hills for better views of surrounding mountains and valley.

Day 08: Trek to Khare 5,000m - 05 hrs.
After a nice pleasant rest at Tangnag, morning walk carries on reaching closer to our destination as the trail leads with few short ups and downs with stunning scenery of surrounding peaks and hills of Inkhu valley, walk leads to Charpatti Tal (Four sided lake) which is dammed by boulders and moraine. From here climb for a short while and then descend towards a large meadow at Khare to our overnight camp.

Day 09: Trek to Mera Base Camp 5, 350 m - 04 hrs.

Morning after nice overnight in Khare walk to our main destination at Mera Peak base as the trail leads over Mera glacier and to an icy area for a while with a gentle downhill to reach at Mera Base Camp after a nice pleasant walk of few hours, after setting the camps with afternoon at leisure to relax and enjoy the views.

Day 10: Trek and climb to High camp 5,780 m - 04 hrs

High Five always take cares by adding extra camp on this type of adventure for safe climb, from Mera base camp our route follows across Mera la at 5,415 m that separates Inkhu and Hongu valley. After Mera-la a short steep climb to reach at Mera High Camp in complete wilderenss.

After setting our final camp of the adventure afternoon free preparation for next morning climb to Mera Peak, while our guides will scout for best possible routes to  Mera North Peak summit, the route will be fixed with ropes where necessary to safe guard from incidental accidents.

 Day 11: Climb to Mera Peak summit at 6,461 m / 21, 1907 ft - 08 hrs

Starting early morning before dawn, to reach our goal and target of this awesome adventure, walk leads with a serious climb of less technical problem, however use of crampons and ice axe are necessary on snow and ice slopes, the climb is straightforward following our expert lead guide all the summit to top at 6,461 m high, one of the highest trekking peaks of Nepal Himalaya, after a strenuous climb finally reaching on top of the summit of Mera Peak  North, flanked by Mera Central and South of lesser heights than the main North Peak of Mera.

From the enjoy the thrill with eye catching panorama of Mt. Everest, Mt. Lhotse, Mt. Makalu, Mt. Cho- Oyu extending towards far east at Mt. Kanchenjunga, after an enjoyable moment descend back safely to base camp and relax the whole afternoon and night time.

Day 12: Reserve day in case of unfavorable weather condition.
We always reserves an extra day as contingency on this type of adventure in case of unfavorable weather conditions, if all goes well this spare can be used on the way back before Lukla making the walk shorter and easier.

Day 13: Trek to Upper Hongu Valley 5,000 m -05 hrs.
After completing our first adventure on Mera climb, continue walk traversing into main area of the Hongu Valley, passing small Col with super views of Chamling, Makalu and Baruntse.
From the last Col descend for few hours to reach a nice spot for lunch beside Hongu Drangka, beneath West Face of Chamlang peak.

After a pleasant stop walk leads below Chamlang, and climb into Upper Hongu Valley the walk from here dominated by views of Lhotse and Everest, after two hours of good tough walks leads you to a grassy flat slope for overnight campsite near a moraine hills.

Day 14: Trek to Panch Pokhari 5,480 m -05 hrs.
Our route follows with gradual climb, then heading a steep on moraine and rocky glacier, then leading towards an old and more recent moraine deposits, and then reaching a wonderful place at Panch Pokhari means 'five ponds' we will set the camp near to its large pond at the foot of Amphu Labtsa pass of above 5,780 m high.

Afternoon free to pull back the energy back for final assault over a last big pass of Amphu-La, our guides will scout the route of Amphu Labtsa and will fix ropes on some difficult sections for safe descents toward Imjatse Valley.

Day 15: Crosse Amphu Labtsa Pass 5,780m and trek to Island Peak base camp.
A Big Day, with an early start for three hours climb to the top of the pass and from the pass with stunning views Lhotse and Lhotse Shar and the top of Island Peak which looks as if it could almost be even lower than our vantage point. As soon the kitchen staffs and porters arrive at the pass, they will be lowered some 150 meters to a relatively less steep ground below from the pass. Similarly, loads has to be carefully lowered, after checking every member in the group then slowly and carefully descend with the help of ropes and ice axe if required, then reaching the safe side from the pass by early afternoon everybody should be off the snow.

Once in the safe ground away from the snow and ice area, an hour or more walk will take us to an ablation valley by the side of the Imja Glacier, now being within Imja-tse valley at Parsya Gyab within Island Peak Base Camp near to a snout of Imja glacier between Lhotse and Imja glaciers, afternoon free to relax with acclimatization.

Day 16: Rest day at Base Camp. 
A full rest day for acclimatization, preparation and checking gears before climb of Island peak, free day for short hike around this beautiful area.

Day 17: Climb Island Peak 6,189m and return to base camp - 06 hrs.
After a rest day at base camp, walk further up to reach the summit of Island / Imjatse peak, after leaving base camp leading towards south-east around Island Peak over the moraine, then scrambling up an open gully leading in between two well defined ridges at 5, 280m.

Our climb leads to cross a gully with some stone and icefall danger, a steep snow and ice ramp leads upwards for nearly 100 meters (300ft) to the top of the summit, on reaching top with success, from top of the summit overlooking striking panorama that surrounds you with world’s highest mountains lies before you with offering unmatched views of Mt. Everest 8,848 m, Lhotse 8,501 m, Mt. Amadablam 6,856 m, Mt. Makalu 8, 463 m, Chamlang and Baruntse peaks in the far distance, after an experience of a life time descend on the same route towards base camp.

Day 18: Reserve and Contingency day in case of bad weather condition.

We have reserved this spare days as contingency, in case of unfavorable weather conditions some times in this high Himalayan range, the weather can be unpredictable, so an extra day on this type of adventure is very necessary, if all goes well can be used on the way back to Lukla with short day walk enjoying the great scenery along the way.

Day 19: Trek to Dingboche 4,260 m - 05 hrs.
After a great experience climb of Island or Imjatse peak, return trek to Lukla back into villages, with few uphill’s over moraine, then reaching at Chukhung with views of snowcapped mountains, after a short stop continue walk to overnight stop at Dingboche in the comfort of nice lodge with mountain views.

Day 20: Trek to Thyangboche 3,867 m - 05 hrs.

Leaving Dingboche with super views of Amadablam, Nuptse wall, Lhotse, then heading on the downhill path and back to lower altitude and tree lines, the walk leads past Pangboche and from the bridge an hour or more climb brings you back to the famed Thyangboche Monastery with amazing surrounding scenery.

Day 21: Trek to Monjo 2,880 m through Namche Bazaar - 06hrs.

Morning walk begins with a descend to Imjatse River at Phunge tenga, here after crossing the bridge a steep uphill for an hour then with gentle winding walk all the way to Namche Bazaar, ( for energetic people can use the route to Namche visiting Everest View Hotel or Khumjung and Khunde village) from Namche on the downhill path to Dudh Kosi River bank, from here with short ups and downs to reach the Sagarmatha National Park entrance and then Monjo village for overnight stop in this quaint nice village.

Day 22: Trek to Lukla - 05 hrs.
After a most exciting and thrilling adventure on Mera & Island Peaks climb, our last day walk takes you back to Lukla on a gentle winding trail through Phakding and Ghat village and then with last climb to Lukla for lunch and overnight stop, evening with last dinner around Khumbu area with staff and guides including porters.

Day 23: Fly to Kathmandu and transfer to hotel.
Getting up early to catch the early flight back to Kathmandu from Lukla, (sometime the flight time can get delayed due to bad weather), as the plane reaches Lukla airstrip depart for Kathmandu taking a sweeping scenic flight in a small twin otter or Dornier plane.
On arrival in Katmandu domestic airport a short drive leads you back in the hustle and bustle city life of Kathmandu, transfer back to your hotels in the hub of Kathmandu in and around Thamel area.

Day 24: In Kathmandu for individual activities.
A spare and free day in case of flight delay at Lukla in due to bad weather conditions, on this free day you can join in our guided tour of interest with culture and heritage sites as Kathmandu valley is full of world heritage sites, however some of them been damaged from recent earthquakes.

Day 25: International departure for home ward bound.
