Mt. Everest North Col Expeditions from Tibetan side will be a super classic adventure following the early pioneer footsteps of legendary Irving and Mallory who set the first steps on Everest from North Col followed by many mountaineers to this day.

Mt. Everest North Col Expeditions from Tibetan side will be much approachable to the summit without the danger like in from south route with notorious Khumbu Ice Falls.

From North side where you can drive right up to its base camp at 5,200 m high and Yak caravan can take your load and equipment right up to its Advance or III Camp this makes great possibilities and shorten the duration of the expeditions.

In Tibet Mt. Everest is known as Chomolungma means ‘Great Mother’ before this mountain was just listed as Peak XV stands as roof of the world at 8,848 m and 29,029 ft where the name as Everest christened in honor of Sir George Everest.

Our adventure begins from Kathmandu, Nepal with an overland drive to its border at Kodari and Zhangmu where our Tibetan guide and drive will leads you at the base of Mt. Everest with all our Nepalese crews and mountain gears and camping equipments.

After much acclimatization and arranging our loads Yak will ferry the gear right up to ABC or Camp III at 6,550 meter high above Rongbuk glacier, where our actual adventure starts using at least four camps beyond Advance Base Camp.

After a successful feat and climb on top of world highest summit of Mt. Everest North Col return journey back to base camp for an exciting overland drive back to Kathmandu and to your home countries with mesmerizing moment an adventure of a lifetime experience on

Brief Itinerary:

Day 01: Reach Kathmandu via respective airlines and transfer to your hotels.
Day 02-03: In Kathmandu preparation for Everest Expeditions with optional tour.
Day 04: Drive to Kodari and continue to Nylam 3,450 m in Tibet via Zhangmu.
Day 05: Rest day at Nylam for acclimatization.
Day 06: Drive to Shegar or New Tingri 4, 350 m – 05 hrs.
Day 07: Drive to Everest BC 5,200 m via Rongbuk Monastery 4,950 m.
Day 08: At Everest Base Camp rest and preparations.
Day 09 – 10: On Route to Advance Base Camp at Interim camp at 5,800m.
Day 11 – 12: Load the yaks and head to ABC 6,550m.
Day 13 – 32: Ascent of Mt. Everest from North Col (20 days for summit top),
Day 33: Yaks arrive at ABC to return to base camp.
Day 34: Descend to base camp.
Day 35: Pack up base camp.
Day 36: Drive back to Zhangmu 1,700m – 06 hrs journeys.
Day 37: Drive to Kathmandu via Kodari – 06 hrs.
Day 38-39: In Kathmandu rest to revive from the long demanding climb.
Day 40: International departure for home ward bound.

Details Itinerary

Day 01: Reach at Kathmandu via airlines and transfer to respective hotels.
On reaching at Kathmandu international airport where you will be greeted with warm welcome by High Five Adventure staff and guides, and then transfer to your hotel where you will be joined with other members of Mt. Everest North Col Expedition, here our guide and group leader will information and brief with wide information regarding Tibet, climb and Everest expedition.

Day 02-03: In Kathmandu optional tour and preparation for Everest expeditions.

With free days in Kathmandu for necessary preparations where you will be busy packing and purchasing necessary required equipments for the expeditions, on last final day in Kathmandu with final briefing regarding the climb including do’s and don’ts, where our expert climbing guide will provide much information and items required for the climb.

For interested people can join in city tour around Kathmandu at places of interest, as Kathmandu valley full of world heritage sites of impressive historical and cultural monuments.

Day 04: Drive to Nylam 3,450 m via Zhangmu (2,300 m) -168 Kms - 06 hrs.
Starting our adventure overland to Tibet with an interesting drive of four hours to reach the border post at Kodari on Nepal side, with Passport and Visa formalities then heading towards Tibet / China entry points, here our Tibetan guides and driver receives you with short drive to Zhangmu the entry point of Tibet / China.

After completion of paper works, visa and permits continue drive following Bhote Kosi River upstream to Nylam town, a nice ride through beautiful forest of pines and rhododendron trees with views of waterfalls.

At Nylam transfer in the best available lodge-hotel or guest house for overnight stop with first night in Tibetan soil with high altitude gain.

Day 05: Rest day at Nylam for acclimatization.
A full rest day in Nylam a perfect altitude for acclimatization, here one can take a short hike and excursion visit the old holy cave and monastery of saint Milarepa a popular Buddhist Guru around 11th Century, Nylam a growing town just behind the peaks that straddles Nepal and Tibet near to Mt. Shishapangma base camp.   

Day 06: Drive to Shegar /Xegar (4, 350 m) - 244Kms - 05 hrs.
From Nylam starts high Tibetan plateau as morning drive leads past Tibetan farm villages to reach on top of Lalung-la Pass (5,050m) with views of Mt. Shishapangma (8013m highest within Tibet).

After Lalung-la driving on vast Tibetan plateau with high and dry terrain to Old Tingri with first glimpse of Everest and Cho-Oyo peaks, from here few hour drive to Xegar also called New Tingri with moderate and basic lodge for overnight stop.

Day 07: Drive to Rongbuk Monastery 4,950 m and to Everest BC.
From this windy and isolated town, our route leads away from main highway towards North Everest base camp and Rongbuk area, as the drive leads on top Pang-la pass with super panorama of world highest peaks including Mt. Everest, Makalu, Cho-Oyu and adjoining peaks, from here descend to Tashi Dzong village to reach Rongbuk Monastery and its many smaller hermitage caves.

This holy and remote spot was first introduced to the world in 1920's by 1st British expedition teams of George and Irving Mallory and well-known novel Lost Horizon by James Hilton.

At present most of the retreat cells are abandoned with only few small shrines scattered at end of the valley. According to Rimpoche (high priest and saint) of this area, the monastery was first established as a religious site around 250 to 350 years ago. From Rongbuk a short drive of 20-30 minutes to Everest North Base Camp, here meet our camping staff and guides and retire into a spacious cozy tent with dinner served by our camping Nepali chef.

Day 08: At Everest Base Camp rest and preparations.       
Today after gathering all climbing gears from the trucks busy sorting out the equipments and planning with few practices before the final event to the top of world number one peak.

Day 09- 10: On Route to Advance BC at Interim camp 5,800m.
After packing loads for the yaks head to advance base camp, which is 22 km up the valley, requiring two days to reach. There are easy walks to do back to the Monastery and towards the mountain, but rest is the key to acclimatization at this point.

Day 11 - 12: Load the yaks and head to ABC 6,550m.
On the walks fabulous view of Everest North Face and then later in the day before reaching intermediate camp, setting camp by the river at the half way point, then set off early in the morning with the yaks on the second day to allow plenty time in the afternoon to set up a temporary of rudimentary camp at Advance Base Camp the highest camp on walks at 6,550 m.

Day 13 - 32: Ascent of Mt. Everest (20 days for the summit bid).
From Advance camp preparation for the final climb to the summit with great technical effort through ice-rocks and snow.

20 days for climb from ABC as the climb follows moraine towards North Col and over glacier at about 300 meters of fairly deep snow climbing leads to the Col at 7,066 m.

The Col a fairly wide ridge which has enough space for tents, this will be Camp I. To the south, the Col rises to become the North Ridge. This is straight-forward snow climbing, eventually steeping into rocky shelves and short buttresses. A second camp will be placed at around 7,700 m.

The route to the North East Ridge leading from the top of the North Ridge to the summit will depend on conditions favorable climate conditions.
From the camp following North Ridge to the crest of the North-North-East Ridge or make a rising traverse to the right to reach the ridge at a higher point. Last camp will be placed at around 8,300 m.

The final climb leads to cross last section on steep step to reach the top summit.  As per favorable weather conditions follow our lead guide and leaders to the summit on top of the world at 8,848m (29,028 ft.). Some have measured as 8,850 m high but not yet confirmed.

After an adventure of life time and feeling on top of the world descend safely to ABC using few camps on downhill.

Day 33: Yaks arrive at ABC to return to base camp.
All loads must be carried down at this time this includes garbage picking and clearing the litters along the route downhill.

Day 34: Descend to base camp.
This day all climbing party and member including guide and staff should have reached at base camp on this day, to assist packing equipments and checking each member health condition after the great classic climb and to organize departure from Everest base camp to Kathmandu.

Day 35: Pack up and cleaning base camp.
Start packing the climbing gears and disposing garbage in proper sites, where CPPC (China / Chomolungma Pollution Control) will check the camp and depositing the litter to take away from the base camp to disposal sites or back to Kathmandu. Prepare everything for an early departure.

Day 36: Drive to Zangmu 1,940 m - 06 hrs.
After superb adventure on top of Everest, morning drive to Zangmu a border town, from Rongbuk few hour drives leads at Lhasa / Kathmandu highway in Old Tingri.

After a short break drive continues over Laylung pass at 5,050 m, with excellent views of snowcapped peaks bordering with Nepal and Tibet. From here downhill to Nylam and back in forest area after leaving behind the high and dry Tibetan plateau, drive leads through green forested area with views of beautiful waterfalls, after few hour drive from Nylam reaching Zangmu town for last overnight stop in Tibet.

Day 37: Drive to Kathmandu via Kodari - 06 hrs.
Morning as per China Beijing Standard Time (of 2:15 minutes ahead than Nepal standard time) after passport and visa formalities, a short drive leads at Friendship Bridge separating Tibet / China with Nepal territory.

At the bridge bidding farewell to our Tibetan guides and driver, then walk into Nepal soil for the drive to Kathmandu, on reaching Kathmandu transfer to your hotels with afternoon free for individual activities and shopping

Day 38-39: In Kathmandu for individual activities.
Two days as spare and free day in case of delay on drive back to Kathmandu depending upon road and weather conditions, on this day busy sorting out climbing equipments, where our leader and guide will submit the expeditions report to concern department.

On this free day you can join in our guided tour of interest with culture and heritage sites as Kathmandu valley is full of world heritage sites, however some of them been damaged from recent earthquakes.

Day 40: International departure for home ward bound.
Mt. Everest North Col Expeditions completes today here in amazing Nepal Himalaya, as per the time for your international flight homeward bound or to next respective countries and port of call, transfer to airport with mesmerizing and exciting adventure with High Five Adventure and its cheerful friendly guides and staff.

Cost Details

  • Airport Pick up drop (Airport /Hotel/Airport) by private car/van/Bus. Hotel in Kathmandu: Two night's tourist standard Hotel in Katmandu with breakfast basis. Welcome dinner and farewell dinner in Kathmandu
  • Meals During Trek: Your standard meals in mountain (Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner) during the trekking. Tea or coffee four times a day in cup during the trek
