Phokalde Peak Climbing Route

Though the trek commences from Kathmandu, our actual walking begins after short flight to Lukla Airport. The whole trekking route offers immense natural beauties and is filled with lush Rhododendron Trees where you will find the peace and tranquil environment. We will rest in Namche Bazaar for the acclimatization and visit the village in this day. You can explore the local Sherpa people’s lifestyle and cultures in this day. The astounding views of glorious Himalayas will surprise us each day of trekking. In Tengboche, you can explore the largest monastery of Khumbu Region and get introduced with Buddhism, and inner peace. Passing via Pherinche and Lobuche we will finally reach Everest Base Camp to enjoy the awaiting view of world’s highest mountain. Then, climb the Phokalde Peak which is the ultimate destination of our trekking. From the top of Phokalde, we will explore breath taking views of Mountain series. Finally we trek back to Lukla then fly to Kathmandu and end our adventurous voyage in 17 days.

Phokalde Peak Climbing with EBC Trekking Difficulty

Phokalde Peak Climbing Trekking is not a strenuous adventure but you need an endurance of walking at least 6 hours a day in order to complete the trek successfully. We will stop in Namche Bazaar to acclimatize our body to high altitude. Even a novice trekker can complete the trek easily with proper acclimatization, well preparation and sound physical fitness. We recommend you to take only vegetarian foods, take energy drinks, take plenty of water and walk slowly and steadily to complete the trek and peak climbing happily.

Details Itinerary

Day 01: Arrival in Kathmandu and transfer to the Hotel

We will wait in Tribhuwan International Airport to meet you, greet you and transfer you to the hotel room. At the evening, you will meet our trekking and climbing guide who will accompany you to dinner and you can resolve any queries and get briefed on some of the important points that are vital for the successful climbing.

Day 02: Kathmandu valley sightseeing and trip preparation day

Waking up in the early morning, start our trip to the places of interest in Kathmandu Valley. Out of ten world heritage sites enlisted by UNESCO in Nepal, Kathmandu valley alone holds seven sites. Thus we will make a visit to some of the famous tourist destinations and heritages sites till noon. The tour today covers Kathmandu Durbar Square, Pashupatinath and Bouddanath. Then, we will take you to our office where we will check all the climbing gears are ready and in good condition.  If you missed something, you can buy that in Kathmandu.

Day 03: Trek starts: Flight to Lukla (2,860m) and Trek to Phakding

WE will catch an early morning flight to Lukla after taking breakfast in our respective hotels. About 35 minutes of scenic flight takes us to Lukla Airport. During the flight can observe the excellent panoramas of high gigantic mountains from birds’ eye perspective. Landing on Lukla Airstrip is itself an adventurous experience; moreover, the Lukla offers eye-catching views of white snow-clad mountain and alluring surrounding. From Lukla, we commence the first walk in the Himalayas of Nepal. Three hours of easy walk takes us to Phakding where we will stay for overnight.

Day 04: Trek from Lukla to Namche Bazaar (3,440m)

Crossing the Dudhkoshi River, we begin to trek through cultivated lands and nice landscape. We will reach Monjo after a short walk where we will complete the formalities to enter the Sagarmatha National Park. Then, we continue our walk through alluring trail and reach Jorsale village. Observing the rural lifestyle of the local and their cultures, we will reach in famous village of Everest Region – Namche Bazaar. The incredible peaks like Lhotse, Nuptse, Taweche peaks can be observed during the walk to Namche Bazaar.

Day 05: Acclimatization in Namche Bazaar

Namche Bazar is the famous place for acclimatization among the international and domestic trekkers as this offers you so much to explore. The village is inhabited by Sherpa people who are well known as mountain climbers and known for their bravery. This is the famous trading center where Tibetans and traders from various parts of the country sell their products. We will spend the day relaxing and exploring the mystic Namche Village.

Day 06: Namche Bazaar to Tengboche (3,867m)

After breakfast, we will start our voyage to Tengboche, a magical Khumjung village having the largest gompa of the region. The trail continues from above the Dudh Koshi River, and takes about 5-6 hours to reach Tengboche. During the walk, you will be blinded by the superb views of high Himalayan ranges like Mt. Everest, Lhotse, Nuptse and Ama Dablam in the Khumbu Region. We will halt at Phunki Tenga for lunch and walk on a steep uphill trail for about 3 hours to reach Tengboche for overnight stay.

Day 07: Tengboche to Pherinche (4,252m)

We will start our day with warm breakfast and descend towards the beautiful Pangboche village. The impressive view of magnificent Amadablam awaits us in Pangboche. Experience the exceptional views of mountain peaks and natural wonders, we will walk ahead for couple of hours to reach today’s ultimate destination – Pherinche.

Day 08: Pheriche to Lobuche (4,930m)

On the trekking route from Pherinche to Lobuche, we will explore the Khumbu Glacier. We will stop in a quaint Dughla village for lunch and again continue our trek through the mountain ridges and rocky terrain. On the route, we can see many stone cairns built in the memory of brave Sherpas who lost their lives while climbing the mighty Everest. About 4-5 hours of walking from Pherinche will takes us to the beautiful village at Lobuche where we will be staying tonight.

Day 09: Lobuche to Gorakshep – Everest Base Camp (5,357m) and return Lobuche

This is one of the most awaited days since the beginning of our trekking. Though the trek today is difficult, it is equally rewarding. Today’s walk will stretch about 8-9 hours through the Himalayan Glacier an you can also experience the extravagant view of Khumbu Icefall and the entire route to the south col. From the Base Camp, awe-inspiring Everest Panorama can be observed just in front of your eyes. You will get enough time to capture the incredible moments in your heart, mind and cameras. And finally, we will return to Lobuche for overnight stay.

Day 10: Lobuche to Dingboche (4,410m)

This is an easy descend to Dingboche that takes about 4-5 hours. Witnessing the array of mountain panoramas and the alluring nature, we will reach Dingboche for overnight stay.

Day 11: Dingboche to Phokalde Base Camp (5,400m)

As we proceed toward the Phokalde Base Camp, we will enjoy the impressive views of green meadows and solid stone walled fields lining the scenic trail of Imja Khola Valley. Moreover, we can see perfect glimpses of Lhotse towering on our left and Ama Dablam at the right side. Hiking over the scenic slopes nad rocky trail for about 5-6 hours we will reach Phokalde Base Camp that is situated on the green large alpine plain right beside the tranquil lakes.

Day 12: Climb Phokalde Peak and reach the summit (5,806m)

The 12th day of our trekking takes us to the ultimate destination of the Phokalde Peak Climbing trip. On this most awaited day, we need to wake up very early in the morning and have our breakfast done by 3:00 AM. The climb immediately starts after having breakfast, chasing the picturesque snow ridge. While climbing to the summit you may need to use some climbing gears like climbing ropes, ice axe etc. On reaching the summit you will get all the overwhelming views of Majestic Himalayas that you dreamt for. A enticing view that will stay forever in the core of your heart, embrace the natural miracles and spend some moments with yourself in the midst of magical nature. Moreover, the route offers ample opportunity to satisfy the photographer inside you. After exploring breathestopping beauty from the summit we will retrace our footprints to Phokalde Base Camp.

Day 13: Reserve day

This is an extra day or contingency in case of any unfavorable circumstances that may disturb our peak climbing. Thus, keeping an extra day is a great idea to complete the Peak Climbing even if any unwanted things avoid our climb.

Day 14: Phokalde Base Camp to Tengboche (3,870m)

Today is the day to return after successful climbing of Phokalde Peak. During the 5-6 hours of walking in mesmerizing route through the alpine forest to Tengboche, you will be fortunate enough to witness the exhilarating views of Himalayan ranges. The trail traverses mesmerizing forest of red Rhododendrons, fir and junipers and follows a gradual climb to reach Tengboche. During the spring season, the route gets even more attractive due to blooming Rhododendrons.

Day 15: Tengboche to Namche Bazaar

Today, we will start our journey to Namche Bazar firstly descending to Dudh Koshi River and crossing a bridge. Then the trail passes through the lush pine forest and ultimately reaches Thasinga. From this vantage point you can observe Thamserku and Kangtega. Again the trail continues through beautiful trail and the views of Lhotse, Mount Everest Summit and Tengboche fades away as we reach Namche.

Day 16: Trek from Namche to Lukla (2,800m)

This is the final day in Himalayas on Phokalde Peak Climbing journey. On this day, we literally retrace the footprints to reach Lukla. On the trail, we will explore the views that we had missed while climbing up. Crossing the suspension bridges and passing through the beautiful Rhododendron forests we will reach Lukla in approximately 7 hours.

Day 17: Early morning flight to Kathmandu

From Lukla, we will catch an early morning flight to Kathmandu. Witnessing the alluring beauties of Himalayas and incredible landscapes we will reach Kathmandu in 35 minutes.

On reaching Kathmandu, you can either relax in Hotel room or visit some of the major highlights in Kathmandu. Additionally, you can go for final hour souvenir shopping before returning your homeland.

Day 18: Final Departure or extend the trip

This is the last day of 18 Days Phokalde Peak Climbing Trip along with Everest Base Camp Trek. We are sure that you had an excellent time with us and have collected lifetime memories. On the departure day, our office representative will drop you to TIA, 3 hours before your scheduled flight.
