Introduction:

Pikey Hill Trekking a wonderful journey where it leads you to beautiful Solu areas which are the southern part of Khumbu and Everest region, on this walk visiting lovely Sherpa and other mix hill tribe villages with grand views of snowcapped peaks with Everest.

Pikey Hill Trekking begins with an exciting overland drive to Jiri from Kathmandu heading North East with super views of the mountain range as the drive leads past Charikot town to reach famous Jiri, also known as Switzerland of Nepal due to its beautiful location on a green valley with great views of mountains and rolling hills.

Walk leads past Jiri town following the same classic route of Everest for few days on the main trail till Lamjura a high pass in the midst of beautiful forest surrounding, from here our walk leads to our highlight of the adventure on top of Pikey Hill with super wide views Mt. Everest (8,848m / 29, 028ft) Lhotse (8,516 m-24,940 ft), Nuptse (7,855m-25,772 ft) Kangtenga (6,782 m / 22, 380 ft) Tharmarsarku ( 6,623 m / 21, 855 ft) Kwangde (6,011 m / 19,837 ft) Kusum Kanguru (6,373 m / 21,030 ft) and many other smaller unnamed peaks with Number peak.

After a delightful moment on top of Pikey, our walk concludes on reaching a nice Sherpa village and town at Phaplu for the flight back to Kathmandu with a glorious moment on Pikey Hill Trekking.

Brief Itinerary:

Day 01: Reach Kathmandu via respective airlines and transfer to your hotels.
Day 02: In Kathmandu preparation for Pikey Hill trek with the optional tour.
Day 03: Drive to Jiri 1,955m – 06 hrs journeys.
Day 04: Trek to Shivalaya 1,640m – 05 hrs.
Day 05: Trek to Bhander 2,190m – 05 hrs.
Day 06: Trek to Sete 2,430m – 06 hrs.
Day 07: Trek to Lamjura 3,530 m -04 hrs, afternoon free for short walk.
Day 08: Trek to Pikey top 4,065m and return to Lamjura.
Day 09: Trek to Junbesi via Lamjura -04 hrs
Day 10: Rest day at Junbesi for short hike to Thupten Chuling 2,930m – 04 hours.
Day 11: Trek to Phaplu 2,470 m – 05 hours.
Day 12: Fly to Kathmandu from Phaplu 30 minutes of scenic flight.
Day 13: In Kathmandu free day with a sightseeing tour.
Day 14: International departure homeward bound.

Details Itinerary

Day 01: Reach at Kathmandu via airlines and transfer to respective hotels.
On reaching at Kathmandu international airport where you will be greeted with warm welcome by High Five Adventure staff and guides, and then transfer to your hotel where you will be joined with other members of Pikey Hill Trekking, here our guide will brief with wide information regarding Pikey Hill Trekking.

Day 02: In Kathmandu optional tour and preparation for Dudhkunda trekking.

A free day in Kathmandu for necessary preparations where you will be busy packing and purchasing necessary required equipments for the adventure trek to Pikey Hill trek, on last final day in Kathmandu with final briefing regarding the trek including do’s and don’ts, where our expert guide will provide much information required for the trek.

For interested people can join in city tour around Kathmandu at places of interest, as Kathmandu valley full of world heritage sites of impressive historical and cultural monuments.

Day 03: Drive to Jiri 1,955m - 06 hrs journeys.
Pikey Hill trekking begins with long drive on Kathmandu-Lhasa highway, where this interesting drive leads on foothills of Himalaya, through villages and towns on reaching at Charikot, drive continues downhill to cross Tama Kosi River and then on winding uphill to reach a hill top above Jiri town, and then ride descend to reach at nice Jiri town, famously known as Switzerland of Nepal with views of rolling green hills with views of snowcapped peaks.

Day 04: Trek to Shivalaya 1,770 m -05 hrs.
After our first overnight in Jiri, our first day walk begins through the town market place and then avoiding the motor road, climbing a hill to reach a high ridge with nice scenery of surrounding landscapes and mountains.

From the ridge top a long downhill walk takes you at Shivalaya village for overnight stop, a nice fair size village with number of lodges for travelers located by the bank of a river.

Day 05: Trek to Bhandar (Chyangma) 2,195 m - 05 hrs
From Shivalaya morning leads to a steep climb to a ridge pat farm villages and terrace fields and then into a cool shade of alpine forest of rhododendron-oaks-pines trees to reach a small pass of Deurali at 2, 715 meters, here with lunch stop a long descend for two hours to Bhandar village for overnight stop, after walking past large Stupa and villages.
Bhandar also called as Chyangma village, the area around of mix tribe of people with Tamang, Newar, but predominantly Sherpa people.

Day 06: Trek to Sete 2,575 m - 06 hrs.
Morning starts with downhill through farm areas passing farm villages to reach at Kenja village a nice moderate size village, situated in a warm valley just beneath the high hills of Lamjura and Pikey danda, offering views of Numbur peaks. After Kenja, a steep uphill climb all the way to overnight stop at Sete village from here onwards the temperature gets cooler.

Day 07: Trek to Lamjura-la 3,530 m -04 hrs with afternoon free.
Starting with cool morning walk towards Lamjura-la pass with steep climb into forest of rhododendron, pines and oaks trees then through many small farm lands and hamlets, after few hours of climb reaching on top of Lamjura pass marked by a big stupa with few lodges where we will hold for overnight stop at Lamjura and its nice cozy lodge.

Afternoon free for short hike around and just relax and enjoy the views of beautiful landscapes and distant snow capped peaks. 

Day 08: Trek to Pikey top 4,065m and return to Lamjura - 06 hrs round trip.
Morning starting earlier with packed lunch heading away from the main trail towards off the beaten trails into dense forest of rhododendron-pines-oaks-birch and fir trees as the walk leads past several grazing pasture areas with a climb and with short downhill for a while.

After few rest stops our walk leads uphill into tree lines to reach on top of Pikey Hill top at 4,065 m high, the highest spot of our journey offering super wide angle views of snowcapped peaks of Gaurishaker-Melung Tse-Numbur-Cho-Oyu including Everest and Lhotse with other peaks of high Khumbu and Everest region.

Enjoy the perfect views in the harmony of pristine surrounding then head back to Lamjura for overnight stop after a lovely scenic and exciting morning walk to Pikey Hill top.

Day 09: Trek to Junbesi via Lamjura -04 hrs
From Lamjura today a short downhill walk to large village at Junbesi our journey leads to long descend through forest all the way to Sherpa village at Toctoc. After a short stop continue walk on winding path to Junbesi, and then downhill to Junbesi, a lovely large Sherpa village with an interesting monastery and a high school funded by Hillary Trust.

Day 10:  Rest day at Junbesi for acclimatization and short hike.
Junbesi, a nice large Sherpa village with a high school founded by Hillary Foundation, here explore the village and interesting monastery and observe the local Sherpa culture with their daily life of Buddhist religion. For interested and energetic people can take a day hike to Buddhist nunnery and monastery at Thupten Chuling monastery area, from Junbesi walking on nice maintain trail leading away from the main Jiri to Everest trail, while our route leads on least traveled region where trekkers often visits.

As the walk progresses enjoy the surrounding views of landscapes with distant Numbur peaks, slowly our walk enter a monastery premises at Thupten Chuling.

Day 11: Trek to Phaplu 2,470 m via Takshindo and Ringmo -06 hours.
Today our last day of trekking heads towards more farm areas and villages of Solu area, walk is pleasant on gradual winding trail with more downhill enteringinto tree lines of rhododendron-pines and fir trees reaching at a river gorge away from the main trail of Jiri to Everest route.

After a short refreshing rest, walk continues on downhill path past farm village to reach at Phaplu where we will take flight back to Kathmandu next early morning, at Phaplu overnight in nice cozy Sherpa lodge with time for short walk around the village.

Day 12: Fly to Kathmandu from Phaplu 30 minutes of scenic flight.
Getting up early to catch the early flight back to Kathmandu from Phaplu (sometime the flight time can get delayed due to bad weather), as the plane reaches Phaplu small airstrip depart for Kathmandu taking a sweeping scenic flight in a small twin otter or Dornier plane.
On arrival in Katmandu domestic airport a short drive leads you back in the hustle and bustle city life of Kathmandu, transfer back to your hotels in the hub of Kathmandu in and around Thamel area.

Day 13: In Kathmandu for individual activities.
A spare and free day in case of flight delay at Phaplu due to bad weather conditions, on this free day you can join in our guided tour of interest with culture and heritage sites as Kathmandu valley is full of world heritage sites, however some of them been damaged from recent earthquakes.

Day 14: International departure for home ward bound.
Pikey Hill Trekking completes today here in amazing Nepal Himalaya, as per the time for your international flight homeward bound or to next respective countries and port of call, transfer to airport with mesmerizing and exciting adventure with High Five Adventure and its cheerful friendly guides and staff.
