Introduction:

High 5 Adventures presents you an exciting and picturesque destination in the heart of Annapurna Himalaya and on top of beautiful and amazing plateau around Annapurna Sanctuary, where you can catch views of the amphitheatre of peaks at a close distance on trek and climb of Tent Peak / Tharpu Chuli.

Tent Peak also known by local and native name as Tharpu Chuli stands at the height of 5,663 meters and 18,580 ft, although below 6000 m than other popular trekking peaks of Nepal but Tent Peak / Tharpu Chuli leads you to exciting and challenging adventure on this tough technical climb to its rocky and ice summit with overwhelming panorama of surrounding range of Annapurna mountains.

This Tent Peak climbing is classified PD + means ‘PerDifficulte’ in French and Swiss Alpine Climbing System approved worldwide on this type of climbing, where you need to be in good physical shape and requires enough practices on rocks and ice to attempt the climb on top of Tent Peak / Tharpu Chuli.

One of the most picturesque and scenic destinations in all Himalaya range where you will have no problem with the hazard of AMS (Acute Mountain Sickness) as the climb leads you above 5,663m where we have allowed enough rest days for acclimatization and practices with the guidance of our strong and expert climbing guides.

Starting with an overland drive from Kathmandu to scenic Pokhara blessed with natural sceneries of mountains and lakes with rolling green hills dotted with traditional farm villages of Gurung tribes a hill people of Annapurna region.

The walk leads to the mid hills from warm tropic of rice fields to alpine deep forested areas of tall rhododendron and pine trees following the path through lovely villages of Ghandruk-Chomrong to reach an awesome scenic spot at Annapurna Sanctuary and base camp.

From Annapurna base camp leaving the comfort of lodge towards the complete wilderness of ice –moraine and glaciers with excellent camping facilities for Tent Peak / Tharpu Chuli climb after much rest days and practice climb eventually leads you at the top of the Tent peak with a glamorous panorama of surrounding close peaks and rolling green hill.

After a successful adventure on top of Tent Peak / Tharpu Chuli heading back to Pokhara via an alternative scenic route with great views along the walk, and then finally concluding our great journey around massive Annapurna Himalaya with Tent Peak / Tharpu Chuli climb at beautiful Pokhara.

Brief Itinerary:

Day 01: Reach Kathmandu via respective airlines and transfer to your hotels.
Day 02: In Kathmandu free day preparation for Tent Peak trek and climb with the tour.
Day 03: Drive or fly to Pokhara 950m (35 mins flight & 6 hrs drive)
Day 04: Drive to Nayapul and trek to Ghandruk 1,730 m – 05 hrs walk
Day 05: Trek to Chomrong 1,951m – 06 hrs.
Day 06: Trek to Dovan 2,130m via Bamboo 2,050m – 06 hrs.
Day 07:  Trek to Machhapuchare Base Camp 3,720m – 06 hrs.
Day 08: Trek to Annapurna Base Camp 4,095m – 04 hrs.
Day 09: At Annapurna base camp rest and acclimatization.
Day 10: Trek to Tent peak base camp 4,450 m – 05 hrs.
Day 11: Trek to high camp 5,200 m – 05 hrs.
Day 12: Climb Tent Peak and return to base camp – 08 hrs.
Day 13: Spare and contingency day in case of unfavorable weather on the climb.
Day 14: Trek back to Annapurna Base Camp – 04 hrs.
Day 15: Trek to Bamboo – 06 hrs.
Day 16: Trek to Jhinu danda with hot spring 1,700m – 05 hours.
Day 17: Trek to Potana 1,900 m – 05 hrs.
Day 18: Trek to Kande 1,460m and drive to Pokhara.
Day 19:  Drive or fly back to Kathmandu afternoon free at leisure.
Day 20: In Kathmandu free day with an optional tour and to submit reports.
Day 21:  International departure homeward bound.

Details Itinerary

Day 01: Reach at Kathmandu via airlines and transfer to respective hotels.
On reaching at Kathmandu international airport where you will be greeted with warm welcome by High Five Adventures staff and guides, and then transfer to your hotel where you will be joined with other members of Tent Peak/ Tharpu Chuli climb, here our guide and group leader will information and brief with wide information regarding the trek and climb of Tent peak around Annapurna Himalaya.

Day 02: In Kathmandu optional tour and preparation for Tent Peak Climb.
With free days in Kathmandu for necessary preparations where you will be busy packing and purchasing necessary required equipments for the trek and climb, on last final day in Kathmandu with final briefing regarding the climb including do’s and don’ts, where our expert climbing guide will provide much information and items required for the climb.

For interested people can join in city tour around Kathmandu at places of interest, as Kathmandu valley full of world heritage sites of impressive historical and cultural monuments.

Day 03: Drive to Pokhara 950m - 06 hrs journey distance 220 k.m.
Morning overland drive one busy scenic highway towards amazing picturesque Pokhara valley driving through the Himalayan foothills, on arrival at Pokhara transfer to respective hotels nearby beautiful Phewa Lake with afternoon free for short walks.
Flying options 30 minutes of scenic flight to Pokhara.

Day 04: Drive to Nayapul 1,100m and trek to Ghandruk 1,730m.
From Pokhara 2 hours of exciting drive with grand view of Annapurna Himal range of peaks and then reaching our starting point at Nayapul, to begin our walk following the Modi River to Bhirethati one of the charming villages along the route.

Walk continues through farm lands and villages and then a long climb on stone steps to Ghandruk village dominated by Gurung tribe of people, famous as Gorkha soldiers in foreign countries in UK and India, besides as soldiers there are traditional farmers and cattle herders interwoven with Buddhist religion. Ghandruk one of the largest villages around Annapurna area here overnight in the comfort of a nice cozy lodge after a good walk of four hours.

Day 05: Trek to Chomrong 1,951m - 06 hours.
From Ghandruk an hour walk uphill and then reaching to a ridge of Kimrong and then heading downhill through the cool forest of rhododendron and pines trees to Kimrong valley, after reaching the Kimrong valley an uphill climb for another hour from here all the way to the top of Chomrong village, a short downhill walk to the overnight stop at Chomrong village, this is the last permanent Gurung village and the gateway to Annapurna Sanctuary and Base Camp trekking.

Day 06: Trek to Dovan 2,130m via Bamboo 2,050m - 06 hours.
After Chomrong today’s walk leads to a short downhill over the terraced farm fields and to the Chomrong river, after crossing the bridge an uphill for an hour to Sinuwa Danda a small spot with few lodges offering great views of the surrounding landscapes and rolling green hills, from this place walking through cool dense forest till a place called Bamboo is reached, located by the Modi River in the middle of bamboo, rhododendron and oaks forest. From here an hour walk on the gradual up trail to Dovan for overnight stop, situated in the middle of forest Modi River gorge.

Day 07: Trek to Machhapuchare Base Camp 3,720m - 06 hrs.
From here onwards the air gets cooler and fresher entering towards the Annapurna Sanctuary and Base Camp, walk leads on the gradual winding path with gentle ups to Himalaya Hotel near the Hinko Cave, right beneath of Huinchuli peak. From here walking on the glacier and moraine in the old avalanche area, after crossing a small bridge near at Deurali the last lodge before Machhapuchare Base Camp, from here further vegetation and tree lines disappears with only high alpine bushes and shrubs, our route climbs following the Modi river upstream, the walk gets pleasant in some places then with steep up reaching at Machhapuchare Base Camp for overnight stay. This place with four lodges located on the bottom of Mt. Machhapuchare North Face, from here onwards within the Annapurna Sanctuary

Day 08: Trek to Annapurna Base Camp 4, 095m - 04 hours.
After a wonderful morning overlooking views of Annapurna mountain range, from here a short walk to the base camp, morning walk on the grassy uphill slopes then reaching higher almost level ground near Annapurna Base Camp, morning walk with stunning views of close Annapurna peaks that circles the sanctuary facing Annapurna I. After a good scenic walk reaching at Annapurna Base Camp a magnificent spot with about three large lodges at present, offering tremendous awesome scenery of snow capped peaks that encircles around this lovely spot at base camp, afternoon at leisure to enjoy the mountain views.

Annapurna area was first explored by the British Adventure Col. James O.M. 'Jimmy' Roberts in the year 1956 and exposed to the world as the 'Sanctuary of Gods'. The Sanctuary has been christened as "Annapurna Sanctuary" ever since.

Day 09: At Annapurna base camp rest and acclimatization.
A full rest day for acclimatization and short hike with views snow-peaks including Annapurna I, a large wall of a mountain. Here with time for preparation for next day trek and climb to Tent Peak. 

Day 10: Trek to Tent peak Base Camp 4,450 m - 05 hrs.

Morning walk towards our next highlight and goal for the climb of Tent Peak / Tharpu Chuli, view of the peak from the sanctuary and base camp, looks like a rocky tent with some deep snow on the top, due to its sheer rocky and ice slopes, this peak is known as Tent or Tharpu Chuli by the locals.

Walk leads towards the Annapurna glacier and heading with a climb over snow covered moraine rocky path, and climb on icy trail for few hours to Tent peak base camp, first night in tents with camping facilities of cook, kitchen staffs and guides, afternoon relax and enjoy the views with time to prepare for the next day climb of Tent peak / Tharpu Chuli.

Day 11: Trek to High Camp 5,200 m - 04 hrs.

It is always best to have one more extra camps, as this peak is quite technical although it is not a 6,000 meters high, but tough to tackle this peak, morning walk towards more rocky and glacier, and then a few short up to reach a small clearing beneath the towering Tent peak, after setting the camp join our expert guide to inspect the route of climb for neat early morning climb.

Day 12: Climb Tent Peak summit and return to Base Camp - 08 hrs.

A final and a big day! to achieve our target starting before the crack of dawn as the climb leads over moraine and rubble of ice falls, following the route set by our lead guide reaching high above on an ill defined ridge towards last snow slope, most of the climb involves walking roped together, including the glacial crossings.

As everyone should be fit and have good attitude on this climb as it leads to a quite steep rock and ice ridge, with some technical sections on route to Tent Peak summit, after a final big haul with great help and support of our expert guide. On reaching the summit take a rest and admire the beautiful panorama of whole Annapurna Mountains and towards north and west Chulu range with Dhaulagiri peaks as well view of Manaslu towards east horizon, after a great moment in the highest spot of this adventure descent by same route to base camp.

Day 13: Contingency & Reserve day in case of bad weather condition on climb.

A spare or contingency / reserve day in case of bad unusual weather situations, an important to have extra day which helps to maintain the itinerary days and for safe climb, if all goes well as per the designated itinerary days our guide will make the decision after informing all, how and where this spare can be used before or after Chomrong on route Pokhara.

Day 14: Trek back to Annapurna Base Camp - 04 hrs.
After a wonderful time on the summit of Tent / Tharpu Chuli and feeling high with great experience of a life time, an easy walk through moraine, ice and glaciers criss crossing smaller streams and the then a last climb back to Annapurna base camp in the comfort of a cozy nice lodge, with afternoon free to relax and marvel the beautiful snow peaks that surround this place.

Day 15: Trek to Bamboo 2,050 m - 06 hours.
After a gorgeous time around high Annapurna Sanctuary and base camp, morning walk leads on downhill path all the way to Deurali, with few ups and downs then on winding trail through cool alpine forest reaching at Bamboo for overnight stop.

Day 16: Trek to Jhinu danda 1,700m via Chomrong 06 hours.
From Chomrong walk is easier starting short steep morning up to Khuldi Ghar, then downhill into dense forest to reach Sinuwa danda, continue walk descending to Chomrong khola.
After crossing a bridge uphill for an hour to Chomrong village with possible lunch stop.

After Chomrong walk to the top of Chomrong ridge, then our route leads downhill to Jhinu danda for overnight stop, afternoon free for short hike to enjoy refreshing hot springs nearby Modi River.

Day 17: Trek to Potana 1, 900 m - 05 hrs.
From here onwards into warmer area through many farm villages with downhill walk for an hour to Modi River, then crossing a bridge with short climb to Landruk village, after brief stop continue walk on a long winding trail through terraced farm fields and villages and then reaching cool forested area with uphill for 40 minutes to reach Deurali hill top at 2,150 m.

From Deurali offers super views of Mt. Annapurna, Mt. Manaslu and Fish Tail peak, after a scenic break downhill to Potana village for last overnight stop in the high hills of Annapurna Himalaya.

Day 18: Trek to Kande and drive to Pokhara.
Morning catching the views of Annapurna Himalaya, as our last day walk leads to a short up through cool forest at Thulo Kharka also known as Australian Camp a beautiful spot in the middle of the forest with large grazing meadows offering glamorous views of Himalayan range of mountains, after a short scenic and refreshing break descend to the road head at Kande village, from here an hour drive back to Pokhara after a wonderful time around high Annapurna hills and mountains.

Day 19: Drive or fly back to Kathmandu.
Morning a scenic drive to Kathmandu, after a wonderful memorable adventure on world 10th  highest mountains expeditions to Mt. Annapurna I,  on reaching Kathmandu transfer to respective hotels with afternoon free at leisure.
(option by air 30 minutes scenic flight to Kathmandu)

Day 20: In Kathmandu for individual activities.
A rest and spare day in case of delay on climb due to bad weather and other technical difficulties, today enjoy the free day relaxing and join in our cultural city tour of Kathmandu –Patan or Bhaktapur where you can witness ancient culture and heritage sites around Kathmandu valley.

Day 21: International departure for homeward bound.
Tent Peak / Tharpu Chuli Climb completes today in Kathmandu, as per the time for your international flight homeward bound or to next respective countries and port of call, transfer to airport with mesmerizing and exciting adventure with High Five Adventures and its cheerful friendly guides and staff.

  • Airport Pick up drop (Airport /Hotel/Airport) by private car/van/Bus. Hotel in Kathmandu: Two night's tourist standard Hotel in Katmandu with breakfast basis. Welcome dinner and farewell dinner in Kathmandu
