Yala Peak Climbing

15 days

Yala Peak climbing is an ideal destination for novice climbers as this is the Nepal’s easier Trekking Peak. The Yala Peak Climbing Trip takes you to the Langtang valley situated north of Kathmandu Valley. The narrow valley Langtang lies just south from the main Himalayan ranges of snowy peaks. You can see the Langtang Lirung (7,246m) lying at the north side which seems to be dominating the valley. Two mountain peaks Gang Chhenpo (6,388m) and Naya Kanga (5,848m) to the south of the valley and Mount DorjeLakpa (6,966m) in the east side. The Yala Peak Climbing also offers you enough chances to witness the diverse natural wonders throughout the trekking and climbing.

Here in Langtang lies Langtang National Park which was designated as Nepal’s first Himalayan National Park in the year 1971. The walk through lush forests of National Park offers you enough chances to explore the diverse flora and faunas. The vegetation mostly includes Rhododendron, Oak, Pine and Bamboo with other conifers while you trek in higher altitudes. If you managed your time during spring, you can explore the vibrant forests at its best. The Rhododendron blooms and covers the forest making it more attractive and alluring. Moreover, you will see Yaks grazing in the large meadows, different beautiful bird species and wild mammals during the trek to Yala Peak.

A trekker will pass through the Tamang village where they can explore the ancient culture traditions and lifestyles. This is really an interesting part of the trekking. Prayer flags and Maniwalls can be seen here and there which makes your trip more exciting. Additionally, by visiting the ancient monasteries like Kyangjin Gompa, you can know the cultures of Tamang people residing in the area more closely. The famous mountains you can witness during Yala Peak Climbing are – Langtang Ri, Langtang Lirung, Dorje Lakpa and many other unnamed snowy peaks.

Yala Peak Climbing and Trekking Route

Commencing from Kathmandu, we will join a scenic drive to Dhunche or Syabru Beshi from where we will begin our actual trekking. Walking for four days from the starting point, we will take rest in order to acclimatize our body. On the rest day we will not just sleep or relax but join short hiking in nearby hill or go for exploring the major highlight of the area. Our high camp will be at an altitude of 4,800 meters from sea level which rewards us with the best glimpses of glorious mountain peaks along with the perfect view of Shishapangma which is the only eight-thousander mountain located in Tibet.  Additionally, you can explore the semi-tibetan (alike in culture and traditions) Tamangs residing in this area.

Yala Peak Climbing Difficulty

Yala Peak is considered as least technical peak for climbing in Nepal Himalayas that can be conquered by novice climbers also that lacks previous mountaineering experience. There is not high risk of altitude sickness but we recommend you manage extra days for acclimatization so that you will complete the trip easily. Walking slowly, drinking plenty of water and taking vegetarian meals are some great ideas to minimize the risk of altitude sickness.

Best Seasons for Yala Peak Climbing

Yala Peak Climbing can be done in all the seasons with proper gears and preparation. However, autumn (September, October and November) and spring (March, April and May, till mid of June) seasons are considered as the best for Peak Climbing in Nepal. These seasons has pleasant weather and favorable temperature that makes your trip more easy and exciting. The overwhelming views of gigantic peaks can be observed in a clear sky.

However, during monsoon and winter the Yala Peak Climbing gets challenging as the climate won’t be at your favor. You need more practice and previous climbing experiences to complete this trip during monsoon and winter. Moreover, the rain and snowfall may delay your trip.
