Trekking agency in Nepal

We plan and guide treks, peak climbs and expeditions across Nepal: permits, flights, lodges, guides and porters, from our office on Naya Bazaar Marg, Kathmandu.

Trekking agency in Nepal, treks, peaks and expeditions: the May 2026 Everest Base Camp group with the High 5 banner, Nepal
The photograph shows the May 2026 Everest Base Camp group with the High 5 banner in Solukhumbu District, Koshi Province. We have planned treks, peak climbs and expeditions from Kathmandu since 2016.

Treks, peaks and expeditions we run

The 17 trips below sit in five groups, with easy treks to start on and a way up to peaks and expeditions.

The tag on each stamp gives a guide price in US dollars, and the days and the high point sit underneath. Where a tag says ‘Price on request’, ask us for this season’s figure.

Everest region treks

Three routes from Lukla, the mountain airstrip where most Everest treks start.

Annapurna, Manaslu and Langtang treks

Five treks away from the Everest region; the shortest is the Langtang Valley, at 8 days.

Makalu and Kanchenjunga treks

Remote valleys in the far east of Nepal, reached by a flight and a long jeep ride, with simple lodges below Makalu and Kanchenjunga.

Trekking peaks

A trekking peak is a smaller summit you can climb with a guide and some basic training. Each of ours is higher than 6,000 m.

Expeditions

Support for climbers on Ama Dablam, Himlung Himal, Manaslu and Everest: permits, base-camp tents and kitchens, and the logistics in between.

Who runs your trek

Narbin Magar learned the trekking trade from the kitchen up.

He worked as kitchen staff, then as an assistant cook, a porter and an assistant guide, and in 2016 he founded High 5 Adventures. He has summited Everest twice, the first time on 18 May 2018.

He still guides some trips himself. Travellers who review us describe him setting their itineraries, sorting out permits from the Kathmandu office and checking on them while they walk.

On our Everest expedition, climbers cross crevasses on ladders, like this one.

  • “Narbin at the Katmandu office took care remotely of the climbing permit in 2 days (a task that might take a week for others), and arranged a guide for my desired day of the summit.”

Vova Anisimov, Island Peak, Oct 2019, on TripAdvisor
  • “Food and tent were just more than our expectations in High Camp of Mera peak. For my next expedition, I will surely choose High5 again.”

How to check a trekking agency in Nepal

Check that the agency is on the government's company register, that it has a PAN number for tax, and that the Trekking Agencies' Association of Nepal (TAAN) lists it as a member. Then read reviews on a site the agency cannot edit. Each check takes a few minutes on a phone, so here are ours to start with.

The registers spell our name “High Five”, so search for that rather than “High 5”.

How planning a trip with us works

Here is what happens between your first message and your flight home.

  1. Message us

Tell us which trip you have in mind, the month and how many of you are coming, on WhatsApp or through the enquiry form.

  2. We send a plan and a price

You get a day-by-day plan with a price for your dates and group, and we adjust it with you until it fits.

  3. Permits and flights

We apply for your permits and, on Everest region trips, book the flights to Lukla and back.

  4. Pickup in Kathmandu

Someone from our team meets you at the airport. Your guide walks with you from the first day on the trail.

  5. Back in Kathmandu

The trip ends where it began, and we take you to the airport for your flight home.

Common questions

How much does a trek in Nepal cost?

Our Everest Base Camp trek has a guide price from US$1,419, our 2023 price for the 16-day itinerary. The Island Peak climb is from US$1,619, and our expeditions run from US$5,819 on Ama Dablam to US$40,000 on Everest.

These are our 2023 prices. Trips without a figure show ‘Price on request’, and your quote sets this season’s price for your dates and the size of your group.

Which months are good for trekking in Nepal?

On the Everest Base Camp trek, the good months are October to November and March to May. Our groups have also walked in August, so if that is when you are free, ask us what the trail is like then.

Do I need a guide to trek in Nepal?

In most of Nepal, yes. Since 1 April 2023, foreign trekkers in Nepal's national parks and conservation areas must trek with a licensed guide or porter arranged through a registered agency. The Everest region is the exception: the Khumbu Pasang Lhamu Rural Municipality does not apply the rule there. We arrange your guide, and porters to carry the heavy bags, as part of the trip.

Can a beginner trek in Nepal?

Yes, and many of our travellers are new to altitude. Start shorter and lower. The Langtang Valley trek is usually 8 days and goes no higher than 4,983 m. Everest Base Camp is a bigger step: usually 12 days, with Kala Patthar at 5,644 m as the high point.

One traveller who had never trekked at altitude finished the Annapurna Circuit with Narbin as guide in May 2025. Read that review on TripAdvisor.

Plan your trek with High 5

Tell us the trip and the month, and we will plan the rest with you. A rough idea is enough to start.

Our Everest region treks start at Lukla, where our May 2026 group set off through the Pasang Lhamu Gate.
