Introduction:

Himlung Expedition is popular expedition peak above 7,000m located at isolated Manaslu region, northwest of Annapurna region.

Rising to the aspiring height of 7,126m, Mt Himlung Himal lies on previously restricted region which was opened only in 1992. Very few expedition team including Japanese and French team have conquered the Mount Himlung Peak.

Himlung Expedition takes you through remote villages of Nepal-Tibet border – Nar and Phu. Here you will get the clear picture of Tibetan culture and tradition. Spend several walk trekking around the Gumpas, billowing prayer flags, lush forest and gigantic peaks and evening in local lodges offering intriguing hospitality and local dish.

We will walk on some of the most uneven parts of earth – high peaks and passes, glaciers, rugged terrain, narrow gullies, forest, springs and high settlements. Apart from closest views of Nandadevi, Rairamba, Api Himal and Kappa Chuli Peak, this expedition offers great cultural insight of people living in remote Himalayas.

Himlung Expedition Route

Himlung Expedition starts with a drive from Kathmandu to Chymje, 840m and follows the classic Annapurna Circuit Trail, high up the Marshyangdi village to Koto village before winding towards the Nar Phu valley of remote Gandaki region. The quaint and secluded Tibetan hamlets of Nar and Phu are nestled on a remote valley below the mighty Himlung Himal. We spend day here acclimatizing and exploring the timeless Buddhist settlement of the valley.

Next we climb to a grassy meadow high above the Phu at 4,900m which is also a base camp of Himlung Himal. We set two more camps: Camp I at 5450m and Camp II at 6,000m before making a final attempt to the summit.
