Mera Peak Trek & Climb an awesome adventure leads you to conquer one of the highest trekking peaks of Nepal Himalaya, although a straight forward climb but needs good physical fitness to tackle the high altitude walk and climb to reach its summit top at 6,461 m and 21, 907 ft high. Where ice-axe and crampons needed all the way to the top and back.

Mera Peak climbing grade as PD used from French and Swiss Alpine Climbing System which is popular worldwide on this type of day climb to the summit and back, the word PD means ‘Per Difficult” climbing on snow and glacier with less technical effort and a straightforward climb where precautions should be taken at every step.

Mera Peak Trek & Climb starts with a great scenic flight to Lukla the door to various adventure destinations around Khumbu and Everest region, while our route leads away from the mainstream trail towards hidden valleys of Inkhu and Hongu valley around Far East of Khumbu and southward from Mt. Everest.

An enjoyable and exciting adventure crossing high passes of Zatrwa Og pass and Zatrwa-La at 4,531 meters high, offering views grand views of surrounding high peaks of Khumbu area.

The walk leads into the forest of beautiful tree lines and soon the green vegetation disappears for ice and glaciers at Mera Peak base camp, where our true adventure takes you to the summit top and safely back at Lukla for the flight to Kathmandu to conclude this awesome and mesmerizing adventure on Mera Peak Trek & Climb.

Brief Itinerary:

Day 01: Reach Kathmandu via respective airlines and transfer to your hotels.
Day 02: In Kathmandu preparation for Mera Peak climb with the optional tour.
Day 03: Fly to Lukla 2,840m and trek to Chutanga 3,020 m – 04 hrs.
Day 04: Trek to Thuli Kharka 4,300 m – 06 hrs.
Day 05: Trek to Museum Kharka 3,691 m – 04 hrs.
Day 06: Trek to Tangnag (Thangnak) 4,356 m – 05 hrs.
Day 07: Rest day for acclimatization.
Day 08: Trek to Khare 5,000 m – 05 hrs.
Day 09: Trek to Mera Base Camp 5,350 m – 04 hrs
Day 10: Trek and climb to High Camp 5,780 m – 04 hrs
Day 11:  Climb Mera Summit 6,461 m / 21, 1907 ft – 08 hrs
Day 12: Reserve and contingency day in case of bad weather condition.
Day 13: Trek to Kote 4,182 – 06 hrs.
Day 14: Trek to Thuli Kharka 4,300 m – 05 hrs.
Day 15:  Trek to Lukla – 04 hrs.
Day 16:  Fly back to Kathmandu and transfer to respective hotels.
Day 17:  In Kathmandu free day with an optional sightseeing tour.
Day 18:  International departure for homeward bound.

Details Itinerary

Day 01: Reach at Kathmandu via airlines and transfer to respective hotels.
On reaching at Kathmandu international airport where you will be greeted with warm welcome by High Five Adventure staff and guides, and then transfer to your hotel where you will be joined with other members of Mera Peak climb, here our guide and group leader will information and brief with wide information regarding Mera Peak trek and climb.

Day 02: In Kathmandu optional tour and preparation for Island Peak climb.

A free day in Kathmandu for necessary preparations where you will be busy packing and purchasing necessary required equipments for the climb of Mera peak, on last final day in Kathmandu with final briefing regarding the climb including do’s and don’ts, where our expert climbing guide will provide much information and items required for the trek and climb.

For interested people can join in city tour around Kathmandu at places of interest, as Kathmandu valley full of world heritage sites of impressive historical and cultural monuments.

Day 03: Fly to Lukla 2,840 m & trek to Chutanga 3,020 m - 04 hrs.

Mera Peak Trek and Climb starts with early morning flight to Lukla, at Lukla received by our camping staff and porters then walk from Lukla towards silent and peaceful trail towards Chutanga, a small Yak grazing summer pasture surrounded with lovely tree lines of rhododendron-pines-oaks and firs.

Day 04: Trek to Thuli Kharka 4,300 m - 06 hrs.
Morning a steep climb over Kalo Himal or Nau Lekh a high rocky jagged ridge, which separates Khumbu and hidden Inkhu valley leading towards east at Makalu area.

After a hard climb reach on top of Zatrwa Og pass festooned with Buddhist prayer flags at 4,450 meters hihg, and then walk leads to cross over Zatrwa-La at 4,531 meters high, offering views of Dudh Kosi river valley with Karyolung and Lumding Himal, after a grand view downhill to overnight camp at Thuli Kharka on a summer pasture field.

Day 05: Trek to Mousum Kharka 3,691 m - 04 hrs.
Morning starts with downhill walk with views of Peak 43 and Kusum Kanguru peaks, and then reaching at Inkhu valley area, with stunning views of Mera Peak South Face as our walk continues into forest of rhododendron and pine trees to reach at Mosum Kharka for overnight camp.

Day 06: Trek to Tangnag (Thangnak) 4,356 m - 05 hrs.
Journey continues heading towards north on leaving the forested area, after a pleasant walk reaching a wide open valley in a grazing land at Gondishung 4,180 meters which is very near to our overnight camp at Tangnag area.

Gondishung with an interesting old small Gompa believed to be of more than 200 years old, from here an hour walk to Tangnag for overnight stop, a nice spot with temporary huts and shades and small lodge or tea house.

Day 07: Rest day at Tangnag for acclimatization.
A great place for rest day and to get acclimatize before heading towards high area at Mera Peak base camp and Mera-La, on this day relax with short hike on top of hills for better views of surrounding mountains and valley.

Day 08: Trek to Khare 5,000m - 05 hrs.
After a nice pleasant rest at Tangnag, morning walk carries on reaching closer to our destination as the trail leads with few short ups and downs with stunning scenery of surrounding peaks and hills of Inkhu valley, walk leads to Charpatti Tal (Four sided lake) which is dammed by boulders and moraine. From here climb for a short while and then descend towards a large meadow at Khare to our overnight camp.

Day 09: Trek to Mera Base Camp 5, 350 m - 04 hrs.

Morning after nice overnight in Khare walk to our main destination at Mera Peak base as the trail leads over Mera glacier and to an icy area for a while with a gentle downhill to reach at Mera Base Camp after a nice pleasant walk of few hours, after setting the camps with afternoon at leisure to relax and enjoy the views.

Day 10: Trek and climb to High camp 5,780 m - 04 hrs

High Five always take cares by adding extra camp on this type of adventure for safe climb, from Mera base camp our route follows across Mera la at 5,415 m that separates Inkhu and Hongu valley. After Mera-la a short steep climb to reach at Mera High Camp in complete wilderenss.

After setting our final camp of the adventure afternoon free preparation for next morning climb to Mera Peak, while our guides will scout for best possible routes to  Mera North Peak summit, the route will be fixed with ropes where necessary to safe guard from incidental accidents.

Day 11: Climb to Mera Peak summit at 6,461 m / 21, 1907 ft - 08 hrs

Starting early morning before dawn, to reach our goal and target of this awesome adventure, walk leads with a serious climb of less technical problem, however use of crampons and ice axe are necessary on snow and ice slopes, the climb is straightforward following our expert lead guide all the summit to top at 6,461 m high, one of the highest trekking peaks of Nepal Himalaya, after a strenuous climb finally reaching on top of the summit of Mera Peak  North, flanked by Mera Central and South of lesser heights than the main North Peak of Mera.

From the enjoy the thrill with eye catching panorama of Mt. Everest, Mt. Lhotse, Mt. Makalu, Mt. Cho- Oyu extending towards far east at Mt. Kanchenjunga, after an enjoyable moment descend back safely to base camp and relax the whole afternoon and night time.

Day 12: Reserve day in case of unfavorable weather condition.
We always reserves an extra day as contingency on this type of adventure in case of unfavorable weather conditions, if all goes well this spare can be used on the way back before Lukla making the walk shorter and easier.

Day 13: Trek to Kote 4,182 - 06 hrs.

After a wonderful time and memorable adventure return trek towards Lukla without the problem of altitude gain, though walk leads with few ups and downs heading back into green tree lines and vegetations at Khote a small cattle herders shelters.

Day 14: Trek to Thuli - Kharka 4,200 m - 06 hrs.

Morning walk continues around dense alpine forest small hills and continuing the walk on the nice grassy meadow on the gradual walk to reach the last camp of this trip at Thuli - Kharka.

Day 15: Trek to Lukla - 05 hrs.
After a most exciting and thrilling adventure on Mera Peak climb, our last day walk takes you back to Lukla on a gentle winding trail through Naulekh over Zatwar-la pass then with long descend to Lukla overnight stop, evening with last dinner around Khumbu area with staff and guides including porters.

Day 16: Fly to Kathmandu and transfer to hotel.
Getting up early to catch the early flight back to Kathmandu from Lukla, (sometime the flight time can get delayed due to bad weather), as the plane reaches Lukla airstrip depart for Kathmandu taking a sweeping scenic flight in a small twin otter or Dornier plane.
On arrival in Katmandu domestic airport a short drive leads you back in the hustle and bustle city life of Kathmandu, transfer back to your hotels in the hub of Kathmandu in and around Thamel area.

Day 17: In Kathmandu for individual activities.
A spare and free day in case of flight delay at Lukla in due to bad weather conditions, on this free day you can join in our guided tour of interest with culture and heritage sites as Kathmandu valley is full of world heritage sites, however some of them been damaged from recent earthquakes.

Day 18: International departure for home ward bound.
Mera Peak Trek & Climb completes today here in amazing Nepal Himalaya, as per the time for your international flight homeward bound or to next respective countries and port of call, transfer to airport with mesmerizing and exciting adventure with High Five Adventure and its cheerful friendly guides and staff.

Cost Details

  • Airport Pick up drop (Airport /Hotel/Airport) by private car/van/Bus. Hotel in Kathmandu: Two night's tourist standard Hotel in Katmandu with breakfast basis. Welcome dinner and farewell dinner in Kathmandu
  • Meals During Trek: Your standard meals in mountain (Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner) during the trekking. Tea or coffee four times a day in cup during the trek
  • Kathmandu valley sightseeing (Kathmandu Darbar Square, Swayambhunath Stupa, Bouddhanath Stupa and Pashipati Temple
  • Accommodation In Trekking: All accommodations in lodges/tea houses during the treks.
  • Trekking permit: 'Trekkers' Information Management System (TIMS) Permit. And Everest National park permits Toilet paper during the trek
