Details Itinerary

Day 01: Arrival in Kathmandu (1,300m/4,264ft)

A representative from high 5 Adventures will receive you in Tribhuwan International Airport and helps you to get transferred to Hotel. You can relax in Hotel during the leisure time. At the evening, we will host welcome dinner and serve you typical Nepali cuisines.

Day 02: Sightseeing in Kathmandu and trip preparation

Getting up early in the morning, our day starts with short sightseeing tour within Kathmandu valley. We will visit some of the famous world heritage sites located here.  The Swoyambhunath, Bouddanath and Pashupatinath are some top travel destination in Kathmandu and holy place for Buddhists and Hindus.

During the noon, we will gather at High 5 Adventures office and plan our upcoming trip – Mera Peak Climbing.  We will held short briefing and check all the trekking and climbing gears needed do Mera Peal Climbing.

Day 03: Fly to Lukla and trek to Paiya (2,730m/8,956ft), 40 mins flight, 5-6 hours trek

Catching the early morning flight from Kathmandu Domestic Airport, we will head toward Lukla in the early morning. From Lukla, our actual trekking starts and we will trek to Paiya on the first day of our trek. This is an easy walk and we will reach our destination in 5 hours approximately.  We will cross the suspension bridges and past lush jungle before reaching Paiya. Also we will pass through the Chutok La pass on the trail.

Day 04: Trek to Panggom (2,846m/9,337ft), 5-6 hours

Our trek starts with a short descend to suspension bridge from where we traverse through slippery trail until we cross Kari La pass. The pleasant walk through the red Rhododendron and lush bamboo forests on a narrow trail leads us to the Paggom village.

Day 05: Trek to Ningsow (2,863m/9,393ft), 4-5 hours

After taking breakfast, we leave Paggom and cross the Paggom La pass. Passing through lush forests, small settlements of rural Himalayas and crossing the Peseng Kharka Khola and Ningsow Khola on the route we will reach Ningsow village after walking 3-4 hours.

Day 06: Trek to Chhatra Khola (2,800m/9,186ft), 7-8 hours

Leaving Ningsow in the early morning, our trek continues to Chhatra Khola for overnight stay. The first part of the trekking starts with descend to Ramailo Danda where we will witness the mesmerizing views of Mera Peak and Salpa. After some ascends and descends on our trek, we will enter beautiful Makalu Barun National Park. On the way through Makalu Barun, if we are lucky enough, we will encounter beautiful and cute Red Pandas.

Day 07: Trek Khola to Kothe (3,691m/12,109ft), 6-7 hours

We walk towards the north on the main trail to Mera Peak. After walking on a trail next to the the Majang Khola, we merge with another trail which moves alongside the Hinku Khola. Our trail moves straight ahead towards Tashing Ongma which has seasonal tea shops. We continue our trek and cross the bridge over the Sanu Khola before reaching Kothe. Overnight in Kothe.

Day 08:  Trek to Thaknak (4,358m/14,297ft), 3-4 hours

After having breakfast, we start to walk on a wonderful Himalayan route as usual. Today’s walk takes us along the ridge of Hinku Khola in the shadow of Mera Peak. On the trail, we will observe Lungsumgba, where we can find the Mera Peak scripted in a rock along with the route to reach there. This gompa is more than 200 years old. After some more walk takes us to Thanknak. This is a summer grazing are and has primitive lodges and shops.

Day 09: Trek to Khare (5,045m/16,486ft), 2-3 hours

Our trek continues today following the lateral moraine of Dig Glacier to Dig Kharka. We will witness the spectacular views of snow capped mountain Charpate. Then the trek passes through the moraines to snout of the Hinku Nup. Also, we will pass through Shar glaciers. From here, a steep climb takes us to Khare. This is a easy trekking day and we will trek only 2-3 hours to reach Khare. We will take lunch here and again trek in and around Khare.

Day 10: Khare, Acclimatization and pre–climb training            

Today we will stop in Khare for acclimatization. On this day, our climbing guide will provide you basic training on Peak Climbing. Also, he will teach you to use the climbing gears like ice axe, harness, crampons and rope.

Day 11: Khare to Mera High Camp (5,780m/18,958ft), 6-7 hours

After having breakfast in Khare, we will trek to Mera Base Camp. This place offers us the mesmerizing views of Mera peak and many other snow clad mountains. From here, we continue our walk to Mera High camp by passing mera La pass. Passing through the rocky ridge we will reach High camp of Mera Camp situated at an altitude of 5,780 meters. The trail gets more challenging, if there has been recent snowfall.

The Mera High Camp provides excellent vistas of Mt. Everest (8,848m), Makalu, Cho Oyu, Lhotse, Nuptse, Chamakang, and Baruntse.

Day 12: Mera High Camp to Summit (6,461m/21,1907ft) and back to Khare (5045m/16,547ft), 8-9 hours

This is truly an amazing day of our trip as we will climb the summit of Mera Peak today and most tough, too. We will wake up very early in the morning at around 2 o’clock and have warm breakfast. During our climb, we can witness the red sunlight hitting snow clad mountain peaks making the view really superb. Using the different climbing gears like ice axe, crampons, and climbing rope we will reach the Mera Summit. The summit offers overwhelming views of mighty Himalayas including Mt. Everest (8,848m), Cho-Oyu (8,210m), Lhotse (8,516m), Makalu (8,463m), Kangchenjunga (8,586m), Nuptse (7,855m), Chamlang (7,319m), Baruntse (7 ,129m) and many others.

Then we will return to Mera Base Camp and rest for a while before heading toward Khare.

Day 13: Reserve Day for Contingency

This is a reserve day of our Mera Peak Climbing Package. Every day is not clear and climbing friendly in Mera Peak. So, this extra day will help you if the day we planned turns to be a bad day. If everything goes according to our plan, we should not have to use this day and your trip finishes one day earlier.

Day 14: Khare to Kothe (3600m/11808ft), 4-5 hours

Today we will be on our returning trip to Kothe. This day will be relatively easy as we follow mostly downhill trail. On the way, we will explore the beautiful mountain vistas that we missed during ascend.

Day 15: Trek to Thuli Kharka (4,300 m/14,107ft), 5-6 hours

After having breakfast at Kothe, we continue our returning journey through beautiful trail decorated with beautiful Rhododendron forest and some quaint villages of different ethnic tribes. Today, we will explore several small Chortens on the way.

Day 16: Trek Kharka to Lukla via Zatrwa La pass, 6-7 hours

Today, we cross the Zartwa la pass at altitude 4,600 meters. As soon as we cross this pass, we are rewarded with beautiful scene of Lukla Valley surrounded by high Himalayan peaks like Cho Oyu, Kongde Peak, Numbu Himal and many others. About 6 hours of walk will take us to Lukla valley.

Day 17: Fly to Kathmandu

We will catch a domestic flight to Kathmandu in early morning. A short and scenic flight for about half an hour will take us to Kathmandu. You can relax in the hotel in leisure time or catch some final hour shopping before returning to your homeland.

Day 18: Final departure

A representative from High 5 Adventures will transfer you to Tribhuwan International Airport 3 hours before your scheduled flight. We wish you safe journey.
